    Red Sonja

    Version 1.0.0

    24 downloads

There have been fan write-ups of Robert E. Howard's Red Sonja for D&D, so here's my interpretation of the famous character of the sword and sorcery genre for Fantasy Hero. Included is the Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word to use, edit, and print as you see fit. Enjoy! 🙂 General Notes 1) Red Sonja is a mythic level hero, so 200 points were used in the character write-up. 2) Despite wearing even less armor than Conan of Cimmeria with her iconic metal bikini, Red Sonja is seldom hit and does not suffer significant damage despite many battles, being dropped from high places, fights with monsters, and so on. I attributed that to the goddess Scathach's divine power bestowed on Red Sonja and is reflected accordingly.

That Dungeons & Dragons toy display I saw must have had a profound impact, because it inspired me to complete character write-ups with some back story under Hero System 5th Edition. Included in this WinZip file are the following: Mercion - 125 pts (Hero Designer and Microsoft Excel) Ringlerun - 200 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) Teresa Lysander - 150 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) - Entirely new character I created Spectral Bear (Microsoft Word only) Strongheart - 175 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) Marengo, Strongheart's Destrier (Microsoft Word only) Turan, Strongheart's Bronze Dragon (Microsoft Excel and Word) Warduke - 175 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) Hesperos, Warduke's Nightmare (Microsoft Word only) Kelek - 200 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) Skylla - 175 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) General Notes: 1) Warduke's been depicted wielding his sword with his left and right hand by various artists, so I made him ambidextrous. 2) I developed a backstory between Bronze Dragon and Nightmare and gave them names. Their adaptations are from the 5th Edition Book of Dragons and Bestiary, respectively. 3) I created Teresa Lysander as the character who raised Bronze Dragon (see his backstory), inspired by Magic: The Gathering's Keeper of the Beasts card. I also created Spectral Bears, another Magic: The Gathering adaptation. 4) I sort of went crazy on Ringlerun's spells, adapting them from various Magic: The Gathering cards that I used to play many years ago. Of note is Absorb, which combined Counterspell and Healing Salve, and Lightning Helix, which combined Lightning Bolt and Healing Salve. 😀 5) Perks and Talents were minimally used, if at all. If used, they were added to the "Skills & Abilities" category. 6) I eliminated the Magic Skill roll requirement from previous write-ups. In the various fantasy themed books, comics, shows, and films I've read and watched, the spells pretty much happened following some incantations, gestures, etc. and I wanted to replicate that effect. Spell misfires or failures were often attributed to something else associated with the story or a character weakness that would later be addressed or be a recurring theme as part of the overall story.

There have been several fan write-ups of Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian, so here's my interpretation of the famous character synonymous with the sword and sorcery genre. Some general design notes: 1) Character build is 225 points, putting Conan as an epic hero and entering superhero levels. He was featured in the Marvel Universe around 2018 fighting against and with the likes of Kraven, Spider-Man, and such, so it seemed a comparable fit. 2) Different options are listed for weapons and armor, as there have been times Conan wears leather armor, scalemail, or is just bare chested with a helmet, shield, and weapon of choice. The cinematic interpretation of Conan (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has him with an Atlantean sword, while various comics feature him with a broadsword and/or a battle axe. 3) Conan seldom suffers injury or hit, which I attribute to a combination of a high DCV for Fantasy Hero for his physical attributes and skills, toughened skin, Combat Luck, and actual Luck points. The latter two I attribute to Crom. 🙂 Enjoy!

    Kelek

    Version 1.0.0

I came across a Kelek action figure on display from the Dungeons & Dragons toy series and got inspired to do a character write-up using the statistics provided on the box. I used Fantasy Hero (3rd Edition rules) with 75 points as base, 75 points of Disadvantages, and went from there. Included is the Hero Designer file, Adobe pdf, and Microsoft Excel version to edit or print. Enjoy! 😉

This is a quick, simple 28-page introduction to the some of the basics of the Hero System, especially as it applies to Fantasy Hero. It attempts to walk a new player through some of the system's principles, showing off why Fantasy Hero is worth digging into, but without getting bogged down in math or rules minutiae. The intended audience is someone new to Hero, especially those coming to Hero from D&D or other class-based fantasy systems. The reader is walked through the basics of character creation, three character examples, a sample combat, and a few other bits.

The Westerlands calendar for the year 5000SE. Based on the description and information provided in the Turakian Age sourcebook. I had been looking around for one but in the end created my own. Including: Holy Days and Wyretha (the 6th Holy Day) Moon cycle showing Full & New moons * Months names are colour coded for the seasons. As mentioned on the calendar the Holy Days divide the year into 5 parts. When a year is divided like this a single part is usually referred to as a "Quinary" (plural is Quinaries). I imagine that having these divides in the year would be something that the populus might make use of. * included for "The Druids" given the entry on p.206 under Almandre; Obviously the following years will need new calendars in order to show the correct moon cycle given the Wyretha at the end of the year on every fourth year.

Attached are the Hero Designer Files and Adobe PDFs for King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, and Sir Lancelot from British legends. Some designer notes: 1) I adapted this version of King Arthur Pendragon from some stories I read where part of his lineage is from the Fae through his mother, Igraine. As a result, Arthur has a longer lifespan than mortal men and has the ability to transform into a raven. This transformation enabled him to travel indiscreetly to scout out the best knights of the realm to recruit into his ranks at Camelot. 2) Sir Lancelot of the Lake is equipped with an enchanted sword known as Arondight. 3) Queen Guinevere is depicted as blonde, as the versions I read described her with golden blonde hair like sunlight.
  13. Hi, everyone! I just posted Hero Designer files and PDF writeups for King Arthur Pendragon, Queen Guinevere, and Sir Lancelot of the Lake in the downloads section from British legends. If there's sufficient interest, I may come up with writeups for some of the Knights of the Round Table and assorted villain knights they faced such as Mordred, Turquine, etc. https://www.herogames.com/files/file/526-king-arthur-queen-guinevere-and-sir-lancelot/
  14. Hi, Everyone! I just posted some character write-ups for heroes featured in the fantasy RPG game Shining Force for the Sega Genesis console in an exercise of fun nostalgia. I tried to keep the write-ups simple and are intended for new players in the Hero System. Special thanks to Killer Shrike for his package deal write-ups on Centaurs and Dwarves that helped me develop these character conversions. Enjoy! 🙂
  15. Shining Force View File Around the mid to late 1990s, there was a long gap for me in being able to participate in RPG sessions. To fill that void, I played Shining Force and Shining Force II on the Sega Genesis console. They were fun games at the time and "scratched that proverbial itch." More recently, I saw them being featured on the re-released Sega Genesis 30th Anniversary console as part of the 40-game package provided. Seeing it again made me feel nostalgic, so I wrote up stats for some of the key characters. My intent was to keep those characters simple and reasonably replicate them from the game. If used them at an event, they would be for players who were new to the Hero System. The characters featured are Maximillian (main hero the player uses), Mae (centaur knight), Anri (human mage), and Luke (dwarf fighter) in a Zip file with Adobe pdf and Hero Designer files. Enjoy! 🙂 Submitter fdw3773 Submitted 05/29/2020 Category Characters Rules Version HERO System 6th Edition

  17. Quite some time ago I shared a number of the original maps from the Turakian Age book. Due to RL and other issues I was unable to continue working on them. I am now back to the Turakian Age and have, today, uploaded a colour version of the world map of Ambrethel. I myself have printed this on a decent home printer as a A3 poster and it looks good. It is 1600x1200. I am not the creator of these, but the creator was kind enough to pass on to me the various images/files he had a number of years back so I could use/share them on the HERO forums. I hope to have more converted in time. [Download links for others: Black & White World Map - other map files]
