So I'm designing a character that could be used as a get away driver. So I did give her combat piloting which says that you can have one free familiarity of any vehicles that moves in three dimensions. But when I'm putting in her TF skills in HD it doesn't take that into account so how should I address this to keep track on how many points I have spend on character skills?

The Updates are located on the same page you probably downloaded your initial version of Hero Designer. You may want to check once in awhile to see if a new version has been uploaded. The most current version is March, 2022. From the upper main menu go to Store and Manage Purchases. From there scroll down until you see Hero Designer as a purchase (or even Hero Designer Source). You will find a .zip file at the bottom. The date will be attached so you may see what the last update was. From there you should just have to unzip the files into whatever Directory you currently have Hero Designer. If you are installing for the first time the steps are pretty much the same, except you are putting it into a new Directory or Folder. Warning: You must put Hero Designer into a folder that you have permission to read/write from! I tend to put mine on a D> Drive OR inside my Documents folder (since I'm on Windows). IF you are having issues please check Permissions first. If still having issues I would highly suggest finding the trace.log and appPrefs.xml inside your HD folder and sending it to @Simon as well as what your issues is. The more he knows the more he will be able to help.

The "Print to pdf" function in HD (Build 20190530) is not working, regardless of what kind of character I try to "Print", I always get the exact same error message (screencap attached for reference).

Hello, I am trying to use the print to PDF function on the hero designer. I keep getting an error when I do so. It says there was an error and to try again, with an error message: null. It does this every time. I just want to see my character somewhere other than the builder... I also got the mobile app, got the new template downloaded for it, and when I get the file to my phone and try to use it, just get a "Unsupported file type: text/plain. Any help would be very appreciated.

Hey I was wondering how do you build cells and vaults in the hero system, I've been trying to build it, but the math doesn't add up. I'm not sure it's supposed to be a compound power or a barrier, can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Whenever I try to use the selection from the Current Character menu "Print to PDF" it is always going to a unused location on the wrong drive. Is there any way to change this default location?

I have a Home-Brew characteristic that I would like to add to Hero Designer. How do I do it? Is it even possible? I've got Hero Design v6 build #V20190428.

Is there any documentation on the web, or anywhere on how to create HERO Designer Export Templates, or should I just pick apart an existing template to see all the possible inputs into the templates?

Hey guys, I have a question: about how many points should I build the Toxic Avenger (and maybe a female counterpart)? What kind of powers should have? Characteristics? Feel free to post a build. For those of you that have seen this 1985 classic I highly recommend it.

How do you go about designing a damage shield (I get no results on a search of the forums with that term), that is to say, a 'force field' that damages anyone who touches it? I used to know how to do this in Champions 4th (I think it was a power offshoot of energy blast).

Team: I have the most recent HD, which since I have implemented a SAN statistic and other successful elements. One thing I was wondering, is there a way to put an overall ActivePoint and/or Damage Class cap for warning purposes, so that when a player takes and uses a maximum AP value for an attack, then tries to add in a STR and/or DC bonus to go WAY beyond what the game caps are, I can load their character in my HD and point out they are above said cap in the game. I know HD is meant to be flexible, based on the GM's permissions, but at times, players may take advantage of this and it is difficult to argue it with them, unless there is a clear notification to them. Is there a way via a combination of rules and/or templates via the macros to achieve this, or would we need to access the API to do such? Thanks... Chuck D. aka "Jujitsuguy"

This is an Excel spreadsheet that generates Hero Designer prefabs using Custom Skills and Custom Powers. It works best for creating lists of items such as equipment. It does not add (or extract) advantages or limitations though these can be added in Hero Designer. It can separate groups of data into Lists. Once appropriate data has been entered, paste the resulting output in to an empty HDP file. For Equipment: Captures Name, Description, Price, and Weight. For Skills: Captures Name, Description, Skill cost, End Cost, Skill roll. Options for custom skill or skills using the Power Skill For Powers: Captures Name, Description, Real Cost, End Cost Description Example: Given the following block of text if entered in the Description area of the spreadsheet: <i>Creates a small bubble of acid that is hurled at the target</i><p>Ranged Killing Attack 1 point (vs. PD), Penetrating (+1/2), Uncontrolled (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (15 Active Points); 1 Continuing Charge lasting 1 Turn (-1 1/4), Gestures (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4), Extra Time (Delayed Phase, Only to Activate, -1/4) This is applied to the Display area of a HD power resulting in: (Note italics and separation of first and second line. Creates a small bubble of acid that is hurled at the target Ranged Killing Attack 1 point (vs. PD), Penetrating (+1/2), Uncontrolled (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (15 Active Points); 1 Continuing Charge lasting 1 Turn (-1 1/4), Gestures (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4), Extra Time (Delayed Phase, Only to Activate, -1/4) Instructions are included for use and sample data to get a better idea of how this works. This was designed in the Open Office spreadsheet and converted to XLS. I have not been able to verify its full functionality in Excel. If there are issues or questions, please let me know.-

This is for campaigns where the point cost of the spell to the character is not the "correct" real cost. Example: The actual real cost of a spell is 30 real point (100 active cost). If, in the campaign, all spells cost 3 characters points then when the character buys this new spell then the spell from this prefab is added to the regular character sheet to reflect/track the expenditure of 3 character points. A second character sheet/HD file is used to track the actual spell and mechanical information (power, limitations, advantages, etc) plus END cost. Designed for 5e and 6e, This is a list of the spells names from the Hero System Grimoire I. They have been converted to 3 point Custom Powers and POWER skills for campaigns that treat spells as either individual skills or charge a fixed cost for each spell. These default to treat all spells skills as INT based and all CUSTOM POWER spells as 3 point spells. Instructions are included that hopefully make it easy to change the skill base characteristics and point costs in mass. You will still need the Hero Designer Grimoire I HD pack and/or Grimoire I book for the mechanics/descriptions of the spells.-
