Create a Villain Theme Team!

Recommended Posts

Somebody posted before me, so I guess I am #6.

These five supervillains all came from theoretical scientific backgrounds.  All of them managed to gain their powers from experiments trying to isolate dark matter, and the infusion of dark matter and energy have given them incredible powers.  They also suffered from prejudice for their studious natures, and have decided to incorporate that, sarcastically, into their team name.

So the WIMPs (the acronym for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles - which are a proposed candidate for dark matter) came into being.  They pride themselves on defying known reality and persecuting the 'jocks' who once made them suffer.

(And I realize that it may be a bit of a change from the standard way of deciding who gets to designate the next team, but my nod for the person who gets to decide what the next team is will be either the first person who can create a villain based on use of a double metric tensor, or the one who creates the fifth villain.  Whichever comes first. And yes, I loved to play the 'what if' and 'here is your question' games with interns...)

Non Sequitur was formerly Adam Lilithski, a scientist known for his inability to explain his advanced theories in a linear order.  As you might imagine, he got laughed at a lot.  His power is being able to alter the order or action of causality--making things happen in reverse order, making correlation equal causality, producing illogical results from standard procedures, etc.

 Very nice.

Rather neat way to show an inverse temporal symmetry.

So unless someone strongly objects, I would give SKJAM! the nod for nominating the next team when this one is finished.

Kaon (Arron Lebrowski) was a particle physicist obsessed with quantifying the properties of dark matter, but in the absence of actual material to study and work with - his elaborate equations and projections were considered nothing more than curiosities.  Using particle accelerators to try and create and isolate dark matter, he was involved in a horrible accident.  Although he succeeded in creating what he had hoped for, he was caught in the reaction and found himself also changed.

Kaon learned to harness and control his new state.  He was able to make himself so that no light or matter interacted with him (invisible to all senses & desolid - effected by gravatic & magnetic attacks).  Only the most precise of gravitational detectors could identify him.  He also discovered he could fly, but that it came with a price.  Although he could allow gravity's effect to be reversed on him, he also would suffered other reversed effects.  A punch would send him crashing into his attacker, although this was seldom a problem as few were able to attack him effectively.

He also discovered that his powers could be neutralized by strong magnetic fields, although the simple presence of the field was not harmful.

Wayne Berrick was the genius son of a billionaire. When he was only 8 years old his parents were murdered in an uprising in his mother's power plant. Ever since then he cut all social ties (with the exception of his old housemaid) and studied sience. Many years later he had built a secret research facility and was about to produce dark matter. But before he could succeed an accident ended his dreams. He became Supercollider, an energy projector with phenomenal power.

Supercollider is 6'3'' and extremely thin. He has absolutely no body hair and a pale complexion.

Pol Sanderson had always been slow moving. That was why he was the last out when Kaon's experiment failed. It changed him into something that absorbed matter as it moved and added it to its form to become Super Massive.

(I guess the mechanic would be ka built into a damage shield, absorption of body from object to feed density increase and strength. Not sure.  The effect is when the power cuts on, it sucks in anything he is touching and builds a super tough form around him until he cuts it off. At the top end, I believe that he would stop moving and just absorb anything until something was done to shut him down.)

I would probably try to figure out a way to make Pol's power a Transfer of Body to the points of a multipower pool, perhaps with a decreased return rate.  Then I would set up the multipower with density increase (with some arbitrary point cap on how much he can absorb into the power) so that it had more points that could be put into density increase as he absorbed more.  Probably with no conscious control of the multipower so that it automatically turns on when he transfers Body, whether he wants to get denser or not.

You could say that since dark matter does have a gravitational component, he is simply pulling all the Higgs bosuns out of an object.  If he actually 'kills/destroys' it, then it loses all cohesion and simply disintegrates.  Of course, where those bosuns go if he doesn't leave an object for them to transfer them back to as they drain off with the return rate could be an issue.  Maybe a nasty side effect if he actually destroys an object/person and the Higgs that seep back out of him begin interacting with the environment around poor Pol.

I was kind of thinking of the one power density increase with nothing else but the absorption. Then either a killing or a transform to power the absorption but only on things he could touch. Then run the Density Increase and strength going up the more he destroys. The problem is I think absorption has an upper limit so when that caps out, then the density increase and strength cap out too. I don't know how high the cap should be to make this a viable menace to a hero.

I would want the cap for my group, or one of them would just grab every car/building/tree/etc they could find.  In the absence of a cap, I would expect them to try and get 200+ on Str before they started to 'have fun'.

So for game balance, I would put a cap on what they could 'absorb/transfer'.

Bagrovyy Khranitel' (Boleslaw Nechayev, Crimson Guardian) remembered the Old Days with fondness, often wishing he could return to them. But those days ended when the USSR broke apart and the last Soviet Super Proletarian suddenly found himself with nothing to fight for. Nechayev tried to work with the new government, but they were not willing to support any of the old Communist icons and tried to force him into retirement. Rather than face that humiliation Nechayev tried to organize a new Soviet Revolution before the democratic government could consolidate their power. He failed, and when he was put on trial for treason Nechayev became a rallying point for the anti-communist factions taking control of Russia. His show trial was dragged on for weeks before he was finally convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment until the end of his days.

Or, that should have been the end.

Nechayev cared little for politics, but during the past decade even he began hearing about the actions of Vladimir Putin. Now there was a man who remembered the Old Days. For a while Nechayev even tried to petition Putin for a pardon, although his lawyer doubted the former KGB director would care much about a washed up super soldier. And then the Man from the Kremlin visited him. It seemed that President Putin needed a team to carry out missions under the table, complete deniability and even obedience bombs in case anyone tried to defect. It was just like the Old Days.

Bagrovyy Khranitel' is the field commader of Zakhvatchiki, and if the mission doesn't kill them first he plans to reclaim all of the Ukraine for Russia. Despite being almost sixty age has barely slowed Nechayev down, although he has noticed he isn't as durable as he used to be. That's what the big red shield is for. However his reflexes, strength and speed are still superhuman and normal men can't hope to fight him in close quarter combat. If his mission is a success Nechayev has been promised a pardon, and an opportunity to reclaim for Soviet territory for Russia.

Vikki Petridou was an assistant scientist at the European Discovery Center in Athens, when one day supervillain AstroDevil attacked her facility. A hero soon followed to fight the bad guy. When Mr Astonishing landed a super haymaker in AstroDevil's face a portal in space and time opened and dark matter flooded the room. In order to close the portal it was placed iniside a vessel, unfortunately only Vikki was available.

She woke up from a coma 8 months later. Now a vessel for a dangerous and raw form of energy that most scientists don't even understand. Her mind tried to cope with her new situation but she soon began to develop a hatred towards the world and is bent on revenge (against everybody of course). Going by the name of Rift she joined WIMPS.

Next team:

Pacific Pirates : seven low- to mid-powered villains roaming the Pacific Ocean

you can declare your character captain, but the honor belongs to the fastest of you

when we have seven of them, please feel free to create their vessel too

Who is that pirate wearing a baseball cap and swinging a baseball bat? That is Billy Longwood, a frustrated baseball player slash cyborg turned pirate (because of some stupid rule which says cyborgs cannot join professional baseball teams). The truth, none of his cybernetics makes him a better baseball player at all. To make maters intresting, his cybernetic parts are all imitation wood style plastic, not metal.

The Red Widow, a Chinese woman who has modeled herself after the infamous Ching Shih, the pirate queen, is a master martial artist who imbibes opiates in order to peel back the future's curtain.  This both helps her team identify potential loot, and in personal combat allows her to predict an opponent's moves.

Henri the Navigator

This French man is the one who guides and steers the vessel through the seas and in and out of danger as required. His sense of direction is unparrelled and he manages to keep the ship going in the right direction. He is also a bit of a sensitive where the weather is concerned so he knows when they should move out of the way of bad systems.

De chirurg

Stefaan Vandemeer was a dutch scholar from a wealthy merchant family. his quest for knowledge led him to the forbidden arts of black magic.

When his investigations of diabolical lore where

discovered disowned by his family and hunted by the church and the mob.

Stefaan fled with his rarest books and what little gold he could steal from his family.

He fled to the high seas as a barber-surgeon first on a dutch trader then a privateer. He. Used his knowledge of languages to pretend to be from England he took the name De Veermd meaning the stranger or forigner. When in port he continued his education seeking out local magicians and temples dedicated to the foulest old gods.

Eventually his privateer ship captured a Chinese merchant man carrying a royal treasure the cell on their prize and slaughtered the crew to a man and within the hold they found a huge and appended treasure of gold silver and Jade.

Stefaan had no interest in the gold he had seen something within the horse that he must possess he knew it instantly from his studies as the fabled Philosophers stone. He knew that he must possess it only his captain had other ideas he had been ordered to capture the ship and deliver the stone to the local head of the Dutch East India Company.

Stefaan could not allow this wonderous treasure to fall into the hands of ignorant merchants dreaming of unlimited wealth and life. It had to be his he alone has the intellect and knowledge to use the stone. With no other choice he could see, he devised a plan poisoning the crews evening meal with a poison he had learnt of from a black sailor from the island of Hispaniola .

The poison did it's dark work that day and the crew died in their hammocks only to arise the next day as Stefaans willing undead slaves. With the power of the stone He would journey the ocean from that day to this immortal and always searching for greater knowledge and power.

some people within the occult comunity belive that he is the source of the legends of the flying Dutchman.

in terms of the team His ghostly ship provides the principle transport for the team it's enchanted decks concealing much more luxurious and accommodations than should be possible the undead crew work diligently and silently.

Stefaan's knowledge of the hidden tides allows the ship to cross great distances in mere moments.

The crew is bound to the ship and thus only defend stefaan and the rest of the team if attacked on boared but She's an is far from defenseless when away from his ship equally deadly with a sword the razor sharp tools of the barber surgeon martial arts of many lands and black magic.

He is probably the most powerful member of the team but is happy to allow the captain to run things as long as he can aquire more knowledge and Steve of the boredom of immortality.

Peg-Leg

Peter "Peg-Leg Pete" Petowski was a Navy Seal his Team was sent into indonesia to destroy a terrorist training camp or at least that's what the rear admiral who organised the Deep Black op said It was. The infiltrated took out the guards and destroyed  a number of emplaced defenses they successfully destroyed a large chunk of the facility and called in a local clean up team as ordered. It wasn't until the op was over and they exfiltrated that anything seemed odd and that was when the IED went off .

Pete was the sole survivor his right side torn apart by shrapnel he crawled away into the jungle he tried radioing for help only to find that his access to the operation channel was cut off instead he used a sat phone to contact a couple of underworld figures he had dealt with in the past he was rescued from the jungle and his wounds tended to in a safe house in Jakarta. His contacts revealed that the "terrorist camp" was a drug smugglers main storage area and that the Rear admiral had used the team to acquire several hundred million dollars worth of cash and Heroin The team had been disavowed by the Navy and he was supposed to be dead.

Unable to return to the US his body damaged and with no other choice he thought he would spend the rest of his days as a disabled beggar in Jakarta Until Captain Carbasher found him fitted with a set of modular cybernetics to replace his missing limbs and eye his favorite combination are the Peg leg that allows him to make remarkable leaps and the questionite hook hand that allows him to tear through even the toughest armour. He is carbashers chief enforcer and the best tactician on the team. He seems happy as a piratical rouge but is secretly working on a plan to get revenge on the rear admiral that betrayed him.

That's Seven and a ship

so The next team is The Recess Rogues

Albert Layden is 8 he is also probably the most powerful reality manipulator on earth. Fortunately (for those who have seen The Twilight Zone) he is also a very good boy and doesn't use his powers except to save lives. well he doesn't use his powers much except for at recess hen his reality power change his classmates into heroes and villains and manipulates time and space so his classmates can experience epic battles every Recess 8 bullies have taken it upon them selves to give the super kids plenty of trouble every recess.

WET WILLY

William West is not exactly a bully he just has a weird obsession with making other kids wet whether it's his overzealous water ballooning in the summer or filling some ones parka with snow in the winter or joining in with the real bullies for swirlies as long as some one ends up soaking wet he is happy. During recess he gains the ability to turn into aquatic forms he can transform into living water or ice or snow each form having different abilities he is able to fire water jets snow balls and icicles. In his water form he is only partially solid able to stretch and flow around things and attacks pass straight through him.

In his ice form he is tough but brittle able to create sheets of ice as a barrier for movement or as a defence.

And his snow form is some where in between and able to create snow balls and blinding blizzards.

as yet he has not realised that he should be able to become most or steam but when his class covers state's of matter he should figure it out.

Hyper

Hyde pearson is the stereotypical school bully from a poor family with a father in jail and a mother who drinks Hyde is a disruptive influence on the class constantly distracted and causing trouble picking on other kids and never doing his homework.

Hyde has never had anyone in his life who cared enough to find out The truth about him Hyde is probably the smartest kid in the school a genius bored out of his mind in his classes and suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder just to make his behavior worse.

Hyper is the defacto leader of The Rogues his Hyper active mind allows him to quickly come up with plans move around to distract and confuse his foes so that will make his enemies injure themselves or others. deep down he is not a bad kid but he is lonely and has a hard time making friends its so much easier to get people to notice you if you pick on them and he doesn't believe anyone will like him  if he is nice. One good friend or teacher could totally change his life.

Richard Roberts is an overweight kid, who pushes the smaller and younger kids around and steals their lunches. Unbenounced to everyone, his parents abandoned him to his abusive grandmother, who uses food as a means of punishment and terror. During reses, he becomes The Glutton, a always hungry boy-beast who can eat anything. Only Hyper knows about his homelife, and has made Glutton his right hand thug.
