CROSS: Secret Agents of the Vatican Source Book

I thought it was time to start a thread about my CROSS: Secret Agents of the Vatican project. I have been working on building this Organization and setting for several years and it is finally taking shape. Here is a summary of what the source book will include:

This book is your guide to understanding the clandestine spy agency known as the Catholic Response Organization to Strategize and Strike or CROSS. Read the details of an organization that secretly fights evil for the good of Christianity using cutting-edge technology coupled with saintly magic honed over two-thousand years of history.

 

For gamemasters, this book provides a complete setting to guide players into the world of religious espionage. The book is also intended to allow CROSS to be added to your existing campaigns whether they be urban fantasy, superhero or sci-fi. In addition, this book will detail numerous NPCs, plot seeds, artifacts and villains to add to just about any campaign setting.

 

For players, it will provide you with character ideas and templates you could use in building a CROSS agent for your campaign. Consider having the power of an organization with two-thousand year old roots whispering help over your communication link.

I remember you mentioning this as a superhero supplement a few years ago. I'm still interested. If you go to press, or decide to Kickstarter it make sure to let us know.

 

Have you considered making it a multi-system book? It seems like it a Savage World or Cinematic Unisystem conversion would not be overly difficult.

Yes, I could do that or make separate books for those other systems. My concern with a multi-system book is there will already be heroic and superheroic versions of things that need to be presented. It could be pretty cluttered with SW and whatever else there too.

Garycon Results

Things went very well on the two CROSS sessions at Garycon. The players really got the setting I was trying to make and really pushed the scenes to play up both the spy angle and the Catholic angle that is so much a part of what I have been trying to build with CROSS. That said, I saw some holes in the setting that I will be trying to fix over the next several weeks. Re: CROSS: Secret Agents of the Vatican Source Book Have you considered making it a multi-system book? It seems like it a Savage World or Cinematic Unisystem conversion would not be overly difficult.

That's a lot of points in Psych Lims with them having a lot of similar circumstances. Might they be better represented as a single Psych Lim: Religious Vows with higher frequency and/or severity? Individual aspects could be listed similar to Code of the Hero (Won't lie, cheat, steal or kill).

Yes. Do the rank and file agents have to take vows? Different vows for different branches? Vow of Celibacy might get in the way of some undercover assignments.

No, you have to be Catholic, but you don't have to take vows or make promises unless you also choose to be a Priest.
