TPP Champions Organizations #2 - League of Champions

I was thrilled to see that this exists and bought it yesterday.  I am very happy with the purchase and thought the price was very reasonable.

I still have the original 'Champions' comic book mini-series that I bought as a teenager when each issue was published by Eclipse in 1986-1987.  In one of the first issues of that comic book series, an editorial teased an upcoming sourcebook for the Champions RPG about the team.  But, while this comic book series included Champions RPG stats (3rd edition) for the heroes, that promised sourcebook never materialized.

This new PDF is, more-or-less, a collection of 6e stats for the members of the League of Champions as they were/are sporadically published by Heroic Publishing up to this day, as well as for the Black Enchantress.  I would've loved to see details about the team's original "semi-secret" base underneath Golden Gate Park from 35 years ago, but I don't think that's current anyway.

Much of the detail about each character appeared to me to be re-written summaries of the 1-page character bios published in the Heroic Publishing comic books several years ago.  (Even the same accompanying art is included here.) I was totally fine with that, and I thought it demonstrated a knowledge of the comic books up through recent years.   It also includes art from that original Eclipse mini-series as well. So presumably that was referenced as well in the writing process for this book, which is great.

It's been so long since I actually played Champions that I didn't bother reviewing the stats themselves in great detail. But I briefly compared them to the 3e stats published in the original eclipse com ic books and noted many similarities.  So I assume they were referenced.  The intro states that these are not "official" stats for the characters.  I thought this was a little odd, since it also notes that Dennis Mallonee was consulted and gave some help with this project, and since it seems clear that the original 1986/87 stats had been referenced and the much more recent Heroic Publishing character bios were used.  But that one-sentence caveat didn't diminish my enjoyment of this book.

If I had any quibble with this book at all, it would be with the editing.  There are no page numbers in this book for some reason.  There are typos sprinkled throughout.  The bio for Flare switches between being written in the first person (i.e. "I" and "me," in the same voice Dennis Mallonee writes the character) and third person.  But I don't want to belabor this minor criticism.  I could tell this was a labor of love and I am thrilled it exists and to have bough it.
