  1. A fantastic resource for western RPGs.

I happily tucked into Steven S. Long's "Hell's Half Acre" (HHA) after Shane Hensley, the creator of Deadlands, posted about it on Facebook. There's still a distinctive dearth of source material for western RPGs, especially the more historical aspects of them, and HHA fils this niche with gusto. Long's done a bang-up job putting together a living, breathing western town (based on several real-life sources), populating it with a variety of NPCs, and providing amazing examples of western life. It was clearly written for Deadlands but works in a straightforward historical setting, or any weird west setting of you choice.

HHA is a complete GMs kit for running or creating your own western town. Of special note are the price lists for goods - always a good thing to have on-hand when running a western RPG - and the sheer variety of NPCs, including names, to help populate your little village.

Whether you need a ready-made town or just want a helpful reference point and inspiration, this is a great supplement.
