Description:

Jimmy is a growing boy; his arms and legs look too long for his body. His hair is cut with a bowl to save money, and he has a persistent cowlick. He wears hand-me-downs that sometimes fit.

BACKGROUND

Jimmy is the son of Jack and Mary MacDougal, small farmers in a western state. Two years ago, an already struggling Jack was gunned down by bank robbers while trying to arrange a loan. Mary was unable to keep the farm, and she was fortunate to get a job cooking for a nearby large rancher. Jimmy has been doing small chores around the place, but spends most of his spare time training Stripe, the horse that was his father's last gift to him.

PERSONALITY

Jimmy is in many ways a typical twelve-year-old boy. He enjoys physical activity and feels stifled in school, thinks girls are icky and grownups make too many rules. His closest bond right now is to his horse, Stripe, though he also interacts well with other horses. Jimmy hopes to be a rodeo star when he grows up.

Jimmy misses his father, and may take a shine to a rugged male player character as a role model.

QUOTE

"Golly! Do you think those guys were rustlers?"

Jimmy's voice is cracking, and will soon deepen drastically.

POWERS/TACTICS

Jimmy is a healthy boy on the verge of adolescence. Due to his mother's horror of guns since the death of his father, Jimmy has not yet learned to shoot. He is, however, a natural at horse training and riding. Stripe (so named for a particularly long white strip down its right flank) is a particularly intelligent horse, and together the two have mastered many tricks.

CAMPAIGN USE

Jimmy is a suitable DNPC or follower for a Western-themed campaign. If he needs to be more powerful, give him the Animal Friendship talent, and more Followers (critters he's tamed.)

Plot Seed: A couple of lowlifes happen to see Jimmy and Stripe performing tricks for their friends. They get the idea of stealing Stripe and selling the horse to the circus. While they're not particularly ept as criminals, the pair could cause some serious damage while trying. Time for a player character to stop these horse thieves.
