Re: THE BOOK OF THE DESTROYER: What Do *You* Want To See?
Doc D is really a Gwenie.
I hope the upcoming book explains this.

Re: Powers You've Never (or Seldom) Used?
Mind Controll and Mental Illusions. I find that unless the pc or npc in question is throwing around 20% more active points in a given power than is the campaign norm they just arent effective.
It seems that a little mental defence and ego make mental powers rather lacklustre. In games i am running mentalists tend to be immensely powerfull and serve as plot devices more than anything else; Menton manipulating things behind the scenes etc...
Also, as a gm i dont like imposing that kind of dictum on my players.

Re: Most interesting character ideas you've seen from others?
Poltergeist
Generic aprentice to a supermage botches a spell and casts his soul out of his body, permanently.
Always on Desolidification and invisibility.
He could animate almost anything with his life force but it had to form a vaguely humanoid shape and no single component of this surrogate body could be more than a 5 Kg in weight. Bought as a VPP, only for duplicates, no duplicates more than 1000 points- with the duplicates having characteristics defined by what they were made of. The character had clinging with 'affects physical world' only for the purpose of sticking to his creations.
Amongst other things the character at one time or another was comprised of stuffed toys, bee swarms, paperclips and office clutter and once when i hadnt thought ahead, several dozen hand grenades. The guy had a great grasp of the rules and wasnt a powergamer so things worked nicely, handgrenade manikin excepted.

Re: Unique, interesting powers
Duplication with the special effect being someone reaching into an alternate universe and brow-beating his counterpart into helping him.
Things can get rather complicated when several of your alternate selves are also capable of such, hence a Multipower full of Multiforms.
If the PC wasnt available then an alternate self probably was, which caused no end of problems.

Re: Lame Superhero Rollcall
Adam Warlock? Take it back' date=' you... He's my hero. How dare you?[/quote']Okay i admit it, i did chuck those two in for the drama (though i dont actually like Cap A. at all i wouldnt cry 'lame').
Lamest cape?
Spiderman.
Its a pet peeve i cant explain or comprehend; so there . If anyone ever makes a spidey homage in a game i am running i shall suggest to them they take 6d6 Unluck (or more!)- they might as well get points for suffering my vindictive nature.
EDIT: I've been thinking (!). Its probably because Spiderman is such a pervasive figure in comics, despite being a somewhat uninspired character both in ideas and execution; yes that my opinion, i dont want to argue with the fandom, please.

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
He did go thru something of an Asshat phase...Tomb of Horrors?
Yeah, encouraging the GM to mutilate pc's probably counts as Asshat behaviour- lest you are playing WHFRP or Dark Heresy:thumbup:.

Re: Interesting Powers Database
'London Drivers' Detect: Free parking space. 360 degree, as sense, Analyse (Is it big enough? Will that ill considerate twit nip in and steal t before i get there? Is it a disabled space? Will i get keyed if i park here?)
'London Cabbie' Bump of Direction: OAF- used tenner.
'Its 12 hours till my degree exam and i dont know anything' Cramming 8-. Activation roll 11-, Fuel (Coffee, Pro-plus and heavy metal; fuel is common, one hours use per full 'tank')
'Ministry of silly walks' Transform 10d6, cosmetic. Body and mind: sober individual lacking in mirth to individual crying tears of joyous laughter. Ranged, Line of sight. Instant (-1/4), Gestures; complex (-1/2), Restrainable; only by those lacking a sense of humor (-1/4).

Did someone say 'usefull'? Oh...

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
The idea that anything I could have been involved in could be thought of something from 4Chan makes me want to hang my head in shameHey, not all of it is totally reprehensible.
Yet, channel 4 in the workplace?
That IS a very strange picture though

Re: Too real?
But, would using Scientology as the basis for (or even as) a major villainous organization be breaking some unwritten rule of setting design...?
I supose it depends if you are prepared to be fair-gamed for you hobby or not.
More seriously ive always found real world organizations, or at least the way they react to conflict to be usefull when running a game.
Supervillans trashing your city? Government procedure for dealing with natural disasters or terrorist attacks lends a very real feel to a game; if your player dig that then roll with it. At the very least it gives a backdrop to what the players are doing.

Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
I'm wondering what the guy thought he heard that was worse than "tentacles."Furrys?

Re: Is Flight Slow?
Some calculations of flight speeds I posted a while back in the Star Hero forum had some of the official listed spacecraft with lower speeds in MPH than a WW2 vintage Me-109 fighter. Those Germans really knew how to build a plane eh?

Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.
It is time again for Top Ten Studios weekly challenge. Which is an excuse to work in some paint for me, as the art HAS to be done in some traditional format (ie, not digital!).Theres some really nice stuff there, thanks for pointing it out

Re: where do the villains get the MONEY?
Lure a superhero (or superheroine) into a trap, render him/her unconscioussomehow, and put him/her up for sale on vBay (just like eBay, only for your
fellow supervillains).
Major Tom
Consider that stolen. Just what ever reputable villanous org. needs for the digital age.
-
Re: where do the villains get the MONEY?
Where do the bad guys get funds?
The respective Governments of the nations in which they reside; terrorist/freedomfighter, superhero/supervillan.
Of course there is always that rumour about the Metamorph with Duplication that represents practically the entire welfare demographic...

Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.
River could take 'im.JG
Two by two,...
-
Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.
I know Whedon would at least let him shoot first.JG
With the Rep. Han has/had? Maybe not.
...and if Han does shoot first, well theres the rest of the crew vs everyones favorite hairball.
Thats a nice can'o worms youve got there.

Re: I got some players!!!.... But I need some help..
Fifthly, My players are all new to this game system. They are used to Rifts by Palladium books. One player even stated "This will be just a Munchkin Game". I don't want too prove him right. So any advice? He is used to :hush:Rifts:hush: and he is worried about it being a 'Munchkin Game'.....
Okay, helpfull reply from me when i have more time and i am not supposed to be working- but that really provoked a response from me.

Re: A New Edition
Hold the FRED in one hand, SED (?) in the other.
Ask players politely which they would rather be beat about the head with.
Democracy in action

Re: Disturbing Character premises...
It was a furry con' date=' not a gaming con. Sad to say, some rather twisted sh*t occasionally gets excused on the grounds of "If it's 'furry' (something related to the fandom, no matter how tangentially) then of course it's okay."[/quote']I blame the Furry:thumbdown
