  1. Well here's a new one. If I wanted the effect of trapping an evil spirit into something the size of a bottle. How would I write it up? I thought some kind of Barrier write up but I can't get the sizing of the barrier that small. Than I thought entangle but it don't feel right. I'm looking for a long term effect on this too.

  2. I think I'd make it a Dispel of some sort.  Probably make it Cumulative, representing the cinematic time it takes to be successful (and the possessed person's attempts to mess with the ritual).

    How about something like:

Dispel 5d6, Variable Effect (any one haunting / possession power or Summoned creature; +1/2), AP (+1/4), Affects Desolidified (+1/2), Cumulative (120 points max; +1), Half END (+1/4);  OAF Arrangement (-1 1/4), Extra Time (Full Phase; -1/2), Limited Range (5m; -1/4), Gestures (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4), Requires a Roll (Power: Exorcism; -1/2).  52 AP, 13 RP

Awesome! This looks like just what is needed to work.

  3. I may be off base but isn't an exorcism very similar to a D&D Cleric's ability to 'Turn Undead'?  If so, the easiest way to make this work in HERO is to give the Undead a Disadvantage that makes them particularly vulnerable to PRE attacks from 'Holy' men.  Being a 'Holy' man would be a Perk.  That's the basics at least.

    HM

I think that is Smite, which would be a blast I guess but counted as a holy attack doing more damage to undead and demons. Dispel Possession seems like what I'm looking for. I haven't had some many problems creating a character before but it's coming along.

  4. Working on more parts for my Occult Detective and just found a new can of worms. I want him to be able to do exorcism's. Problem is I really can't find good info on it in any of the hero system books. I'm guessing that an exorcism works like a form of banishment but it info on banishment in the fantasy hero guide it about banishing a summoned creature and it doesn't really seem to be what I'm looking for. Also the info is no well explained. It's on pg 155 and than jumps to 149 for Dispel. I'm confused and need some input.

  5. So working in my Champions Campaign and my group has received a base of my version of SHIELD (UNTIL in Champions universe). I got a copy of The Ultimate Base and saw this photo. It looks a lot like a Helicarrier but I can't seem to find stats for it. I looked in The Ultimate Base and my UNTIL guides and didn't find it. So where do I find it's stats or if there is no stats, has anyone made stats for it? It would be useful info for my campaign.

  6. I'm not really sure how to explain a GL but he's not really a gadgeteer. I guess he would be a blaster but he would have some type of sub-template. Did you just use the power ring from Champions Complete?

  7. I think I got it set up now. base and control maybe lower, I just set it to that before I set up the various items that are in the bag.

Bag of Holding:  Variable Power Pool (Various Minor Objects Of Mystical Importance), 100 base + 100 control cost,  (150 Active Points); OAF (-1), Concentration (1/2 DCV; Must concentrate on what item he wants to draw from the bag.; -1/4), Extra Time (Delayed Phase, Takes a full phase action to find and draw item.; -1/4)

  8. Bag of holding can be simulated with extra STR, No END Persistent (+1), Only To Carry Items (-1/2), OAF: Bag of Holding (-1).

As for various means of fighting evil you can build a 40 Points Multipower with a Variable Special Effects [Any] (+1/2), Variable Disadvantages (-1/4), OIF: Various Items (-1/2), with slots of for Energy Blasts, Entangle, EB No Normal Defense, Force Wall, etc.  The Variable Disadvantages is useful because you can add "Only Works against Vampires/Werewolves/Witches, etc " (-1/2) to simulate holy water, silver bullets, etc.

Sounds like a good idea too but I really like the VPP. Not sure what direction I'm going to run with till I open up hero designer and try it. I'm not even fully sure how I'll do the items yet but I have a rough idea. I know the most of the demons and undead in the Bestiary guide has susceptibility. Which helps a little bit I know when I wrote up his handguns I wrote it as

Welby Mk5 with Silver Bullets. Than I gave it the normal advantages and disadvantages of gun and add an additional advantage Silver Bullets for +1/4. +1/4 seemed fine due to the fact they do additional damage but only to a few targets.

  9. I'm working on an Occult Detective for Champions. I got most of his items figured out. Stuff like a revolver with silver bullets, holy knuckle dusters, cross, stakes etc. I'm having problems with a few items. 1 item is a bag of holding. It holds a ton of items within a bag. Think along the line of large on the inside. Look up D&D bag of holding for more info.

Another problem I'm having is figuring out holy water. Mostly because it deals damage to undead, devils, and demons but nothing else.

The last part is various smaller items like spices and chalk. Salt could be used to fend of evil spirits and could even do damage to some. Garlic is effective to Vampires and chalk can be use to make magic barriers and doorways.

I guess I could use some of it in limitations. Such as create a Magic Barrier spell and have 1 of the limitations as "Must draw a circle around desired area in chalk".
