Re: Low Berth/cryotube/statis/etc?

I was wondering, how would one build a low berth/medical cryo type tube?

I was thinking either a very large LS: Usable Against Others (since you could do it to unwilling people in a non-helpful manner), or a Major transform (Life Form to Popcicle)...

I think the word you're looking for is corpsicle, actually.

I'm not sure I'd make someone pay points for Usable against others--It's not normally used against others, and I'd think you'd probably have to incapacitate someone before you froze 'em down.

Otherwise, it's just LS:No need to eat, no need to breathe, longengevity bought in a bulky focus, with a couple of extra limitations (like occupant is totally out of it, occupant must be properly extracted or die, power must be maintained or occupant dies, extra time (to start and stop) ). Naturally, a space ship would probably have a large number of 5pts for x2 qty levels bought as well.

Re: Low Berth/cryotube/statis/etc?

Nope: go with Suppress vs. Body. Make it either 0 END or 1 Charge lasting a loooong time. Since you could get by with just a single d6 of Suppress (at just 3 points) as the base power, this would be way cheap.

Why?

Well, according to Steve, when someone's Body has been Suppressed to -10 or below, they're medically dead -- but as soon as the Suppress turns off, they come back to full Body instantly.

If they're dead, they don't need food, water, etc.

It would be pretty useless for all the Body to come back if the physical body could decay, dehydrate, etc. in the mean time, so I interpret this to mean that even though medically they're "dead", nothing of the sort will happen to them. The special effect would be the freezing or time stoppage or whatever.

Of course, you could also use X-Dim Movement, UAA to send them to the appropriate date in the future, with the special effect of being "carbon frozen" or whatever. (See the example about "impenetrable wards" and so on in the "Thinking Outside the Box" stuff.)

On the other hand, you could just kill them by freezing, and keeping them frozen preserves the body. The re-animation process could be Healing with Resurrection, UAA, Only vs. those killed by this specific freezing process (-1). Adding some kind of skill roll or burnout check would simulate the tense situation in a lot of books or movies: will the re-animation process work? Can the people be thawed successfully, or will they die in the attempt?
