Did that, in every place I could find them. The descriptions are inadequate to explain just how Basic and APG relate to SE1/SE2.

 

When a potential customer claims confusion over product choice, blaming the customer is not a reaction prone to create a fan.

So the Basic book is repeat material from 6E1/6E2, but the APG has new material not in either of the core books? Is the APG all new material, or does it contain some repeat material from 6E1/6E2?

(I, too, found these four books caused me a lot of confusion in figuring out what I should buy to get back into GMing Hero.)

I'm pretty happy with the change. I skipped over 5th edition (having left 4th some years ago to flirt with Fudge for a time), and Figured Characteristics was part of my Big List of Fundamental Problems with Hero. Strength cost less than the value of the Figureds it brought with it.

I think this change is more in line with the "you get what you pay for" intent of the rules. And it makes the math easier... you don't have to think about how everything else changes when you bump your STR.

I was actually a bit surprised to see the CVs get subjected to the same treatment, but I think it works for the same reason. You're much closer to being able to buy exactly what you want without having to jump through hoops of manipulating interrelated bits.
