  1. Re: Oil Slicks and Sliding On The Ice Ahh ok. I hadn't picked up the Ultimate Vehicle yet so this give me a good reason to. Thanks for all the help.
  2. Howdy all, I’m pretty new to these forums (ok I’ll admit it, this is my first post) but I’m an old hand at Hero System (4th edition and before, still getting used to 5th ed). I’ve been playing since ’85 and there’s one question none of my players or I’ve ever been able to work out to everyone’s satisfaction. How do you figure out the effects of an oil slick or slipping on ice? This came up back in the late 80s when I wanted to do the super spy thing and have oil squirt out the back of my car to mess up the bad guys who might be chasing me. The problem is we could never figure out exactly how to do it. What game mechanics would work? A Drain Running wouldn’t work since that would just simulate slowing down, not spinning out and it wouldn’t take into effect the skill of the driver. After all an expert driver should be able to get through the slick easier then a kid on his learner’s permit. We thought about Drain Dex but again that didn’t seem to take into effect the skill of the driver. So has anyone got any good ideas? What happens when a character hits the slick? How do you simulate that a highly skilled driver could make it while a less skilled one spins into the ditch? Thanks for any help.
