  1. Re: Godsend Agenda D6 by Khepera Publishing

I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been busy with prep for Gencon. Below are the pregen characters for the adventure I’ll be running there.

The game will be set in ancient Egypt so all the heroes and villains will have a slightly primitive look. The game will be set in the city of Heliopolis and the characters will be the young gods of the city. What happens when the parents are away and the city only has the godlings to defend it?

I haven’t given them names yet just rough concept ideas

    Bastet

Powers: animal control, agility, and natural weaponry

    Bastet.jpg

    Terra Nova

Powere: Flight, super strength, energy blast and absorption, flash attack

    terra nova.jpg

    Silver Scarab or Khepera

Powers: none. He wears a suit of power armor and rides a giant silver or golden mechanical scarab. Lots of other gadgets

    Silverbeetle.jpg

    The Mummy guy

Powers: Invulnerability. This guy is the dark knight detective of Heliopolis but also happens to be a mummy. Criminals are a cowardly and superstitious lot.

    Mummy.jpg

    Horus

Power: Super senses, flight, super strength, sonic blast

    Horus.jpg

    Crocodile guy

Powers: Amphibious, animal control and summoning (water creatures only). Body armor and natural weaponry

    Crocadile.jpg

I hope to see you guys at the “Big Show” in a few weeks. Ill be the one in the tube socks with the gold and blue stripes, the wrestler mask, the bolo tie

    And nothing else

  2. Re: Godsend Agenda D6 by Khepera Publishing

I will definitely be at Gen con (booth #2512) doing demos an selling my snake oil..err, I mean products.

At the moment I’m writing the adventure Ill be running there so if you’re available please stop by and say hello. I plan on selling all day and doing pick up games at night

  3. Re: Godsend Agenda D6 by Khepera Publishing

Thank you Questionman, its very kind of you to evangelize the book. I’m flattered you think enough of them to mention them. Again, thank you very much.

Hopefully it has better rules than the WEG d6 DC Universe game. Worst supers game I've ever seen. . .

The rules set have very little in common with the DC Universe game produced by WEG. While I don’t think DCU the worst (there a few that come to mind), I do belive that the GODSEND agenda and D6 Powers books are better.

*DISCLAIMER: I wrote the game so take what I say wit a grain of salt*

Oops' date=' my mistake, I was thinking the Mayfair DC Heroes game, never played the other one. The Mayfair game used the logarithmic scale and was a point allocation system. I like Hero better, but I did enjoy that game as well. I never played or even saw WEG version (I was already a HEROphile). Mea culpa. [/quote']

Mayfair’s DC Heroes is my #1 favorite game. I tried to get a hold of the licenses when I was putting GODSEND Agenda together but couldn’t work out a deal with the license holders.

To get back to the thread topic though' date=' what is it about the Godsend system that would be of interest? It looks interesting I mean, but why especially for Hero. I'm certain the original poster had something in mind (High-level gaming, dealing with Godlike entities, etc.)[/quote']

GA runs the spectrum of power levels from the low level USER agents to the godlike entities known as the Elohim. The books has a ton of background information in it plus 80 pregenerated characters. If you’re anything like me pre-made resources are a boon to my game. I’d love to see the GODSEND Agenda meshed with the Champion universe.

The one selling point about GODSEND Agenda is that it is fairly unconventional as far as super heroic gaming is concerned. What I’ve tried to do is combine myth with super heroes.

There is a reason why heroes and villains wear costumes, and a reason Superman is more powerful than Captain Marvel even though they are roughly the same power level.

  4. Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did

    Warriors of Plasm (Defiant)

Any of the New Gods series (DC)

    Komandi (DC)

    Hawkworld (DC)

    X (Darkhorse)

    Ghost (Darkhorse)

    Hero Zero(Darkhorse)

    Titan (Darkhorse)

    Icon (Milestone)

    Hardware (Milestone)

    The Protectors (Malibu)

    I know I’m forgetting a few.

I know a few of the above ran for a few years but they never got the treatment they deserved.

  5. Re: Isis

No comments beyond I really liked that show as a child. It used to come on after the Tarzan/Batman adventure hour. CBS had the best Saturday shows, Land of the Lost, Ark 7, Jason of Starcommand, Shazam, Isis …Ahhh…nostalgia…

I’m curious to see the write up once your done.

  6. Re: Eryck Webb art

The guy has major skills. I like it a lot. He has a dynamic since of movement in his art. Not as stiff as a lot of art I see nowanddays.

I should get him to do some characters for me.

BTW you have a really cool site yourself O'Connell. I love the way its written as a comic book synopsis.

  7. Re: My favorite player ain't coming back

Is she willing to come back for one special game? If so you could wrap up all the loose ends. Also the last game could be your opportunity to try and pull her back in;)

It’s a shame when a star player decides that its time to move on but sometimes it for the best. I’ve sometimes lingered at a game that I wasn’t really into and it sort of soured the game for the other players.

  8. Re: [Creative] Need help!

My suggestion what ever you decide to do is throw the players something obvious and easy to figure out then twist it so that what they believe to be true isn’t. The most improbable reason and course of action is the one to take.

You have already introduced Werewolves and Vampires so why not flip the script on the players and make the two factions incredibly unconventional and weird. Most people who see “the Vampire Werewolf war†will already have certain assumptions based on White Wolf, Anne Rice, and laurel K. Hamilton. The movie Underworld gave us an almost good reason but was so full of tired clichés that it left me feeling unsatisfied. There was no twist.

My suggestion is to leave out what has been done before and go for the truly esoteric and weird. Maybe Vampires are what an old Werewolf becomes. Maybe Vampires can sustain themselves on the blood of the living but need the blood of a Werewolf to be immortal.

Maybe the vampires have heard about what the humans are doing with human super eugenics and believe this will allow them to be immortal without having to risk their necks fighting Werewolves. Maybe the Werewolves see the human experiments as a way to cure themselves of become vampires when they grow old.

The Scooby team could be a number of things that can throw the players for a loop.

Maybe they are a team from the future sent back in time to stop a disaster created by the proliferations of super humans. Their future is a bleak and very Terminator like since super humans took power.

Maybe the Scooby gang is just a bunch of nosy kids and nothing more.

Maybe the Scooby gang is a group of aliens examining the super human condition and maybe trying to help us along. Maybe they are angels……

Hit the players with a twist, you can never go wrong

  9. Re: Mystic Team Vehicle?

    How about a fairy ring?

The players step into a ring of toadstools and dance till the landscape around them changes. When they step out of the ring time has passed and they are near the location of the trouble. They must leave small trinkets in the ring for the fey who helped them get to the location

    Or magic boots?

The Legion of Super Heroes had flight rings why not give the players boots of Seven League Stride? In 7 steps the players could be in any location.

  10. Re: Mystic Team Vehicle?

What about Ley line travel or Synchronicity/Kismet sites, or a magic mirror, or gateway

Ley Line: They have to travel via the Ley or Dragon line to a destination. The Ley lines don’t take a person directly there but they will take them so a place close to there. Also maybe magic and magic villains work close to these areas since they are batteries of great magical power

Synchronicity/Kismet: The characters can only travel to places that are auspices and have the right type of energy there. Like synchronicity they only arrive at places they are SUPPOSE to be at a particular time. This is a great plot device since they will be snatched at in opportune times to places where they are needed.

The Magic Mirror: The players look into the magic mirror and see where they need to go. They walk through the mirror and arrive at the location. When they want to return they need a reflective surface to walk through and arrive safe at their sanctum.

The Gate Way: An old man that lives on a hill like in the X-men comic. He teleports the player where they NEED to go. He doesn’t speak to the players and he is very enigmatic. He doesn’t take them to where they want to travel but where the cosmic forces ordain they should

  11. Re: [Creative] Need help!

Maybe the people behind the entire thing is a group of Alchemist from Egypt that have been trying for centuries to make a true super human and have only managed to create Werewolves and vampires. After the library of Alexandria was burned this knowledge was thought lost and forgotten. The organization the player’s father works for found the notes some time ago and have unlocked the secrets to super humans again. The Scooby gang is actually a Vatican investigation team looking to get the notes back…or maybe the Scooby gang is a group of rogue operatives or Rosurcruitians looking to regain the power and majesty they had before the church destroyed them.

Maybe throw in the Mason for good measure.

Maybe the Werewolves and Vampires are actually two different alien races that have come to earth for some reason and are behind the alien abduction stores all over the world. Since these beings are shapshifters and posses super natural abilities they have hid themselves for a long time. Why are they abduction people and doing whacky stuff? Maybe humans posses a gene that allows for greater supernatural ability and they are here to harvest it for their respective space empire. The one who unlocks it 1st will be able to rule the universe.

Humanity knows all about what the Werewolves and Vampires are doing so they have been trying to unlock the gene themselves so that they can fend off these alien invaders.

Hmmm…..this is starting to sound a lot like my own game:)

  12. Re: [Creative] Need help!

This government experiments goes back further than just 3 generation.

The super powers that the players have all come from a common core source. The same source that the Vamps and werewolves get their fantastic abilities. The war isn’t a war over just territory or the other mundane stuff vamps and wolver fight for but the true source of this “super†power.

If one faction gets the source they will win

The Scooby gang belongs to some foreign super organization that has come to America to find the secret of the super powers and is using the players to find it.

    Or

Maybe the werewolves and vampires are all part of some old experiment that follows the same lines as the experiments now done by the Vatican over a thousand years ago. The Inquisition was a super hero purge back in the day and a new one is on the horizon.

  13. Re: Thank you

    Well Tenzil Kim,

What was it that originally did lead you to the HERO Games forums in the first place?

What brought me here was the lack of vitriol free discussion of the super hero genre in general. A lot of times on other forums when you discuss the tropes of the super hero genre it devolves into “Play M&M, SAS, or Hero etcâ€. Even on boards dedicated to other systems they talk less about how to play a super game and more about how cool the system is. Granted, there is a fair amount of that on this board but it just seems a lot more inclusive.

Maybe it’s because Hero system is so maligned that Hero players have to be a little more tolerant of other views or game systems. I understand that everyone has their favorite system and under the right situation I usually have fun playing them.

    Other reasons could be

The age demographic. From what I can tell most Hero players that I encounter are around my age.

The topics are varied here. Seems like the players here have a lot in common with the play style I like.

Beyond that I guess Id have to think long and hard about why I come to a board that has nothing to do with a system I play. Personally I think we would all have an easier go at it if you all purchased GODSEND agenda;) but its not required for us to have gratifying discussions:)

Plus I like the concept of Forum Rep:p

  14. Re: Thank you

I remember when you doing some of the Godsend Agenda books and asking about art. I'm pleased with the choices you made. Given the motivation, I'd be willing to help convert characters to Hero.

I'm sure many others would, too.

I may have to take some of you up on that offer. Like I said earlier I would be curious to see how the characters look stated in Hero

  15. Re: Thank you

I do run games. I’m running two games in fact, Mekton and Talsilanta. I just finished running a huge GODSEND Agenda Campaign and when my Talislanta game is over (In about two weeks) I plan to run a game of Deliria.

I game every week and have done so almost since I started gaming back in 80 or 81. I love the hobby and have no intention not to play.

My favorite genre to role play is super heroic and that’s why I like coming to this board so much. Lots of like minded fans here.

  16. Re: Thank you

I am glad you like it here and thanks for the help regarding Godsend Agenda D6 stuff. I hope you will not be insulted if I adapt your Gaming products to HERO (and the Art *sighs*).

Please feel free to convert. Id be curious to see how the characters in the book look with Hero stats.

Originally I was gonna stat the book in several different systems but opted to just go D6. My Hero-fu wasn’t strong enough to try and do ALL the characters up. Every once in a while a toy with the idea of doing PDF version of GODSEND Agenda with Hero and M&M stats. Sadly I suffer from a disease called lazy;)

  17. Re: Thank you

What?! Why not? No interest in playing' date=' or just don't have anyone in your area? Where is your area? (If you don't mind.)[/quote']

Its not that I can’t find anyone to play it just isn’t my bag. I like the universe and have played in several games back when I lived with my roommate. Just was never big on the system. 1st time I was hipped to the system was back in the 80’s.

I jumped to Super World, TMNT, Heroes Unlimited, to DC Heroes. Since then I’ve played a ton of supers games and none ever compared to DC Heroes.

I know tons of hero fans so finding a game wouldn’t be a problem.

  18. Re: Thank you

But it would be cooler if we could assimula...I mean recruit him.

    One of us...

    Hehe,

Don’t worry, I buy the books and love the background setting I just don’t play.

So I’m sort of part of the “Hero Collectiveâ€;)

  19. I just wanted to thank the community here. I don’t really play Hero but I enjoy coming to these boards and reading and sometimes discussing super heroes and super hero role playing. The folks on this board have a genuine enthusiasm for both comics and role playing.

A lot of other super hero sites are good but none have the diversity and devotion for the genre as this one. Granted there is a lot of system talk that goes right over my head and I only understand the basics most of the time, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the anonymous camaraderie I find here.

    Thank you
