  1. I'm about to start running my first FH campaign, so of

course I have about 12 areas I'm having difficulty creating. I was wondering if I could get some advice from the lovely

    folks here on the board.

My biggest problem is making a magic system that would be useful to a 75+75 char., but wouldn't overpower the warriors, thieves, and assorted other non-magician PCs. I'm thinking about having people buy the ambient mana of the world as a contact which will cost 10 pts for an 11- roll and 5 pts per +1 to the roll. When a char wants to cast a spell they make their contact roll and every point they make their roll by is worth 5 or 10 Real Points to build their spell with. I'm hoping this will make starting chars have to assign around a total of -2 or -3 worth of limitations to their spells to have much game effect and having experienced chars able to cast the same spell with no limitations or keep the limitations, but have HUGE end results. I'm also considering making a list of spells that have been cast so many times that the mana is used to moving in that direction and chars will receive a +1 or +2 to their rolls when casting these spells (I'm hoping this will stop the tendency to have 5 players make the same spell with 5 different builds). Does anyone think this is workable or just a crackhead idea that I've been staring at so long that I've convinced myself it's feasible? I'm concerned about both whether this is a workable system and if the point cost is reasonable.

I have other questions, but I'll post them some other time.
