  3. Hello. I've got a character who creates walls of fire. Seems to me that this is a constant area effect blast, linked to change environment (because it's harder to see through fire), and with the "indirect" mod (source is character, path changes, +1/2), so that the wall can be turned in different directions. Now, here's my question: when you have a constant, area effect blast and some poor soul happens to be in the area, how often does he receive damage? Every segment seems too often, and every phase seems too weird (slow guys get hurt more slowly?). I thought about doing this as damage over time, but that seems too expensive for the effect. Damage over time seems more for poisons and the like, not for areas that are dangerous to enter for an extended period. Thanks for any suggestions.

  5. My player is a fire-based character and wants to summon fire elementals. Since elementals are automata, he's paid the "slavish devotion", along with the cost to summon four 150pt. elementals. Now, as far as I can tell from the rules, each phase he can summon four of these guys, with no maximum number, as long as he has the endurance to pay for it. Does that sound right? Sure sounds like it's a very powerful ability.

  9. I'm converting from Champions 4th edition to Champions Complete (6th). I have a character who wants 75% damage reduction against flame attacks. The text says that this should be purchased as resistant reduction (60 pts.), but it seems to me that we should apply a limitation to this cost as well. After all, flame attacks are far less common than all attacks against ED, right? (In fact, they are more or less a subset of the latter.) How do you figure the cost in a situation like this? In Damage Negation, it says that limiting the negation to attacks of only a specific special effect gets no limitation modifier. Again, that doesn't seem right to me. Negating damage from, say, water attacks is far less useful than negating damage from physical attacks. Thanks for any input.

You know, a summary of combat modifiers, etc. And you've provided more of a cheat booklet than a sheet, but it will certainly come in handy. Thanks much.
  11. Hello. I've just ordered the 6th ed. Champions Complete book (I already have the PDF, but I like good hardcopies, too). I'm thinking about converting my players' characters and NPCs shortly after the book arrives, but it sure would be nice to have a handy cheat sheet for 6th edition. I used a good pair of reference sheets for 4th edition (my current edition) that I got from http://members.dsl-only.net/~bing/frp/hero/hero.html. Does anyone know of a similar resource available for 6th edition? Much thanks.
