Re: League of Champions
I just reread "The Justice Society Returns" a 9 issue story and it has potential for a large group story arc as the storyline below attests to a super group of 14 characters with a main storyline and then a 7 separate 2 character adventures happening simultaneously around the world and then the return to the main villain and a showdown with the whole team at the end. With a little rework it can be used with your main villain Istvatha V'han. You would need to pick 7 villains to substitute for the Avatars.
Storyline
During World War II, Nazi sympathizers begin a ritual using Dr. Occult to bring a being known as Koth to Earth, in order to ensure an Axis victory in the war. Hourman and several magical heroes attempt to stop them, but are unsuccessful. The spell goes wrong, however, and the Nazis release a villain known as Stalker, whose sole purpose is to end life everywhere and thus end war. The magical heroes are either killed or captured by Stalker, and only Hourman and Dr. Occult escape. Hourman informs the rest of the Justice Society of America about Stalker, and the group battles with him in Washington, DC. The JSA manages to wound Stalker enough so that he must create seven disciples (the men who originally brought Stalker to earth) to carry on his work while he recuperates. The JSA splits up to batter each of the disciples. Each team is able to defeat a disciple. Dr. Occult gathers everyone together to battle Stalker in Antarctica, where Stalker is building a machine that will destroy all life on Earth. After a long fight, the machine is destroyed and Stalker is defeated.

Re: Who Is... Your Favorite Villain?
My Favorite Villain as A GM is Citadel,
followed by Doctor Destroyer.
My all time favorite to run is Foxbat.
And anytime I can use Viper Agents.
I got more of a reaction when I introduced Citadel with all his various powers then when the heroes came up against Dr D.
I think they knew the good Dr would be tough. But Citadel was an unknown and displayed way too many powers for them to comprehend.

Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.
Yea that was the pic I was refering to and to clearify the 2nd part. If you (Storn) had creative control of the new Champions team for 5th Edition who/what archtypes would you fill it with?
And thanks I hadan't read Champions newsworld so I didn't know that Kinetic had joined the Champions.

Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.
Very nice work as always Storn.
As a side note I was reading some of the earlier posts in this thread and noticed that you posted a picture of Doctor Destroyers chief of Security named Stormshadow but his appearance in Day of the destroyer named him StormWatch.
I like your name better and your art is Great.
Just wondering if you ever wanted to show us your vision of the ultimate DD henchman Gigaton.
or even your line up for the Champions Team if you got your own say as who or what archtypes should be in the book.
Once again great work.

Re: I need VIPER help please
As listed in VIPER Coils of the Serpent the ranks are as follows
Agent, Basic
Agent, Elite
Sergeant
Lieutenant
Captain
Commandant
General
Major General
Serpent-General
Council of Thirty member
Supreme Serpent
The last 2 ranks normally wouldn't be known or even encountred by regular Supers.
Rank illustrations are available in above mentioned book.

Re: Grond, underpowered pansy?
I hafta say I haven't used Grond in 5th Ed yet. As I have used him in my 4th Ed and previouse Champions games I hafta make sure that he lives up to his rep from previous editions.
I know he's not a master villain or even intellectually close to being a rocket scientist but I have always used him as a cunning foe who learns from his mistakes and experiences like some wild animals do.
In my 4th ed game my super team came across Grond on the New York docks and had a quick fight that almost got the team all a quick ride to the hospital as Grond has 4 arms i gave him autofire and area affect 1 hex as strength tricks. also if the big man can grab an unsuspecting hero he still has 3 arms free.
Also in 4th edition game my heroes couldn't fight grond underwater very well.
Water breathing and swimming gave him an edge in there first fight, and take it they all learned and round 2 several weeks later the trumiphed over grond but they had a healthy respect for him.
How do you use The Champions in your campaign?

Re: How do you use The Champions in your campaign?
The Champions in my Campaign were based in Manhattan as of the Big Blue Book and with 5th edition I used an old Avengers adventurer from the Marvel Superheroes source book that had the team have tryouts to form a new team (such as the Great Lake Avengers or the West Coast Avengers).
The new team would be based in Millennium City while the old guard from New York would step aside and be replaced with their 5th edition counter parts. This left the new players as a part of a larger organization and the Champions as the premier hero team that they are in the universe and could be called upon in dire emergencies.
