So, tell me what Hero RPG would you like to see next. Mecka Hero: Giant robot roleplaying, both Real Robots and Super Robot areas. Kaiju Hero: A world of giant monsters. Fight against them. Fight as them. Horror Hero: Generic horror story role-playing. War Hero: Your in the army now boys. From the trenches of World War 2 to the elate anti-terroiist squad. Steam Hero: Might of been covered by Victorian Hero already, so if so ignore this. It is an age ruled by steam. Isaki Hero: Fantasy Hero supliment which helps the GM to play with Isaki rules. Victorian Space: Space in a science fantasy wo…

What new game would you like to see after Victorian Hero gets published? New edition of Horror Hero? Star Hero Complete? New edition of Ninja Hero? Sentai Hero?

What mixed-genre premises would you find disturbing? Here's an example: "Mel Brooks and Akira Kurosawa collaborating on one movie." (Mixing Ninja Hero with extreme doses of comedy) Let's see what ideas you can come up with? Edit: This was just something that came to me totally at random.

Thought about having a discussion about best practices for the GM to scare his/her players while allowing them to have fun at the same time.

So, I am thinking about doing a game base on the Percy Jackson/Kane Chronicles/Magus Chase universe. The players with the exception of one have never the hero system. (Its been a few years myself.) Hero - Standard I would have the players not spend their full build points. They would be allowed to discover powers in the middle of a game session, either ones that I have built or preapproved ones that they make. For the most part the characters will be kids, 8-12 years old at start. My question is what complications would there be for a demigod? how would you make a complication for the fact that their powers would be ties to 1 Greek/Ro…

Considering that there is going to be a new anime film of the classic shop historical manga next year, how would you build Marie Antoinette's fictional bodyguard Oscar Jarjays, a woman raised as a man and can pull it off well enough to have some ladies in waiting chasing after her? Probally the most obvious skill for her is knowing the entire French school of fensing, which might also include some more practical swordfighting also. Maybe some familiarity with the guns of that time, including cannons, high society, and being the queen's personal guard has it's rewards (a royal Contact). Eventually she falls in love with a man and sides with the pres…

While visiting Supermegatopia I came across these. Only of intreast to people who are into Furry super-heroes or anything close. (Note to Steve, if Hero Games ever decides to create a furry hero book I highly suggest the artists here for interior work and the cover) All art belongs to Supermegatopia

I've been working up Great Cthulhu. I could swear I saw him worked up somewhere, but I can't find it now. I started this because I realized we can estimate Cthulhu's potential maximum BODY. In the story "The Call of Cthulhu," the sailor Johansen rams Cthulhu with the steam yacht Alert going full speed. A tramp freighter steamship in the Pulp Vehicle Sourcebook has a STR of 95; and the top speed was probably around 10 knots (around 5 meters per second, or around a Movement of 30m for a SPD 2 yacht). If we assume those numbers, the maximum damage that could be done with a vehicle Move Through is 19d6 (for STR) + 5d6 (30m/6) = 24d6 damage. The maximum possible BODY from such…

Since I have received a request for my Highlander HERO rules, I am re-posting it in PDF form. It's done for 5th Edition, so you may have to make a few changes for 6th Edition. If you're interested in my write-ups for Methos and Duncan MacLeod, you can find them here in Surbrook's Stuff. Highlander_Hero.pdf

Society is operating normally. Then something (you define) happens and things start to come apart. This will be the period of transition that is normally jumped over in those post apocalyptic stories. Many people will be killed by this transition (along with other animals and plants), but many will survive. Society itself will be transformed in MANY fundamental aspects as transportation, commerce, communication, government, medical, etc all break down. Exactly what causes this apocalypse? What percentage of the population survive? How can they make a living in this new society? What is the new society like? How long will it take for things to get resettled into wh…

I dug through the bowels of DriveThru RPG and discovered that they have a lot of old Hero stuff on there for cheap. I picked up: Trail of the Golden Spike Border Crossing Stormhaven Here There Be Tigers Adventure of the Jade Jaguar* I had not really realized how much support they'd tried to give Justice, Inc and Danger, International. Both were good sellers, I know, so it makes sense. Its probably worth redoing those at some point to 6th, to promote Hero more. Everyone keeps telling me that adventures don't sell real well but without them the game doesn't do well either, and they seem to do okay in my experience. …

Any of you folks out there watching "24" or "The Shield?" How about movies like Gene Hackman's "The Package" or more recently "Narc" or slightly over the top "The Bourne Identity" This style of adventure... realistic, violent, suspenseful... all about grit and guns and terrorism and espionage... does anyone play these kind of campaigns... or even mini-campaigns or one shots? See... I love this kind of game. No superheroics, no "cinematic" action... real world laws and concerns... characaters who logically DON'T want to get shot at... weapons are deadly... etc. I think I'm alone in loving this level of game. Everyone else I know, and all the posts on…

... or indeed, write-ups for any edition of the Hero system. Specifically, I'm looking for the aliens (K'tharen, V'sori, G'rok) and drones. I've started (perhaps foolishly) a Necessary Evil campaign for an online group and the less data entry I have to do for the game, the better. Hero Designer files would be great, but I ain't gonna be picky... PDFs, scans of character sheets, notes hastily scribbled on napkins, whatever ya got and are willing to share will work. Thank ye in advance.

I don't have the Aaron Allison martial arts book, and probably won't have it for a while. What I want to know are... 1: Is Curly 's fall upon the ground and spin in place while kicking repersentive in the art? 2: Is the First Game (as Stooge fans name the maneuver where someone like Moe blocks a punch with his fist and use the momentum to counterstrike the opponent) repersentive? 3: Curly 's power bost when he hears Pop Goes The Weasel? nyck nyck nyck. Like a stooge I posted this in the beginning in the wrong section. I fully expect to pick two soon...

Wong Ping was something of a local legend, known as "the bronze foot", and was fond of demonstrating his kung-fu in public. Because of this he came to the attention of Sing Lung*. One day Sing Lung came down from the mountain and had an opportunity to observe Wong Ping's kung-fu. He was impressed by Wong Ping's skill and tried to tell him so but because Sing Lung's Chinese …

As I've been reading the 6th ed rulebook getting ready for my game, I see a few requirements that players need: In order to run Bioware (not any old cyberware), they need the Bioware Compatible talent (p.11). In order to run cyberware needs a Cyberbrain (p.10). Cyberbrains replace EGO, OMCV, and DMCV with their own stats and are independent of the character (p.41). In order to show this correctly, I think a character has to sell their EGO (etc) back to 0, then buy a cyberbrain. However, the NPCs in the book don't always seem to jive with that. Examples: Agrees: Replicates (p.205) <They have -2 EGO (p.75) but shouldn't the Cyberbrain not refle…

The manuscript for Western Hero is at Hero HQ and being worked over, with a new cover being created for it. I don't know any realistic release date but I hope it will be out by Christmas. This is to be an official Hero Games product, not a Hall of Champions fan bit or self pub job like my other work. I have a few release ideas set up for it, when it hits the shelves including an adventure module. As I get more news and information I'll pass it along here. So stay tuned, pardner.

Hello Hero System Community. Starting a new High Fantasy/Steampunk campaing tomorrow. Out of the blue, while transfering character from Hero Designer to Roll20, the Ranged Martial Maneuver: Distance Shot appeared in my Roll20 character sheet. Maneuver Phase Pts OCV DCV Rng Damage/Effect Distance Shot 1+1 5 +0 -2 +6 Strike; +1 Segment We do not understand (GM and me) the Phase 1+1 for this Ranged Martial Maneuvers (MA p. 6). Hey everyone! I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting genres to explore, and I thought it would be great to hear about some of your favorite "other genres" that don't quite fit into the typical categories. Personally, I've been really into interactive fiction and text-based adventure games lately. I love how they challenge me to use my imagination and think outside the box, and the fact that they don't rely on fancy graphics or flashy animations makes them all the more impressive. What about you? Do you have a favorite "other genre" that you think more people should know about? Maybe you're into puzzle games, educationa…

So, with tiny baby, suddenly we're watching a lot of children's programming in our household. One that's been a big hit is Numberblocks. For some reason, my GM Brain has started working up the Numberblocks in Hero System format. Has anyone done this or something similar with Toons?
