  1. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

    From my gaming group, but not from a game. It was at a BBQ

    Teh Bunneh: When you're doing CPR you're supposed to do chest compressions at one-hundred beats per minute; that's the same tempo as "Another One Bites the Dust."

    Lonewalker: Just don't sing along.

    Everybody (mimics trying to revive an unconscious body) Singing: "Dud duh duh, and another one bites the dust..."

    Staying Alive works too, and has a more consistent theme

  2. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

    Was Gerard defeated with an exploding candy-gram?

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh! Will the edited scenes never stop haunting us!

    Candy Gram just daze Mongo. Cannon not work either.

    Diving for treasue in well and running out of air. That work!

    You kids today with your edited DVDs and cut for TV.

    I think i'll get back to counting my liver spots now.

  3. 1st, basic Absorption question;

    say you have Absorption vs Physical that goes to an Energy Blast.

    would points received from Absorption increase the end cost of the EB?

    my guess is no, as at 1D6/5pts Absorption would just be an expensive EB that the hero must be hit before using.

    Real Question;

    How to build a power that will let our hero increase a HtH attack based on how often the hero hits?

    (kinda like a Brute's Fury in CoV).

    my best guess would be to buy Absorption with a +0 lim that it only applies to damage done instead of taken.

    thoughts?

  4. The setup;

    Unknown to most of her new teammates, Yuurei has a dark secret, she is Kuro Ran.

    Kuro Ran was once a heavy for Yakuza in Tokyo, she got caught up in something way over her head that ending with her being given a new life as an exile in San Francisco. The NPA’s parting gift to her was a trip to the psych docs to “modify” her thinking. Yuurei was born.

    Kuro Ran isn’t gone, she is just “sleeping” in Yuurei’s memories. At times of extreme stress or pain KR can reemerge.

    As luck would have it this just took place in the last fight. KR finished the fight, then announced she had “things to do” as she took off into the night.

    First, she isn’t evil. She just has a certain flexibility to her moral compass.

    The Task;

    Beginning in Reno, have as much fun as possible without incurring the wrath of a paranoid government (i.e. don’t get caught).

    Perhaps get back to San Francisco and drag possibly naïve sidekick along for the ride.

    The Assets;

    KR is a highly trained martial artist, can leap at over 300mph, turn invisible at will, bench press the Space Shuttle and is unlikely to be scratched by anything this side of an anti-tank round.

    The Liabilities;

    She is Yuurei, so she doesn’t want to cause any lasting damage to herself (i.e. getting caught).

    She will revert to Yuurei once she falls asleep (or is K.O.ed).

    So, what should our little villain do for a night out?

  5. Re: hitting that moving hex.

    so is it presumed then that every hero can accurately lead a target no matter how fast the target is moving?

    not to mention that they also know precisely, or within 2m anyway, how far away any target is?

  6. this must have been covered somewhere, but...

    are there any "official" rules for hitting a moving hex?

    i.e. "wow! you say Super Fast Flying Dude is doing over 30"/seg in combat and has a DCV so large it wont fit on his sheet? guess i'll just hit the DCV 3 hex he is standing in right now as thanks to Hero movement rules he comes to a dead stop after every pha"

    There must be some penalty somewhere about how your hero guesses/knows where your target will end up.

  7. So... almost the entire team is built with a -1/2 lim (OIF).

    I would like to bring the limitation in to play (after all, a limitation that isn't a limitation shouldn't be worth any points), but i want to keep things fun for all the players.

    Now (out of the power suits) the team ranges from Buff Super Agent to Normal Guy w/ High Soceity.

    any thoughts on senerios envolving the team (sans armor) that could keep it interesting for everyone?

  8. in our new game we are likely to test a new house rule where Killing Attacks are a +1/2 adv on "normal" attacks rather then a separate power.

    the thought being that KAs have the potential to do a lot more stun against a limited (if common) def w/o costing anymore then a normal attack.

    have you tried this?

    potential pitfalls ahead?

  9. mainly, what would you say is the game play dif between;

    "Feature is Noticed and Recognizable"

    and

    "Feature is Always Noticed and Causes Major Reaction or Prejudice"?

    my thought is that it goes from "my, thats odd" to "i'd love to stay and chat, but i left the kettle on. bye"

  10. Re: City of Heroes (Champions of Champion)

    I have to admit, I'm very interested in City of Heroes.. But I've avoided all online games because I just use a dial up connection. I allways figured you needed a cable modem to participate in order to avoid lag time -- am I incorrect on this assumption?

    -CraterMaker

    you can...(i have used a dail up when traveling, addiction isn't pretty)

    that being said, you will have 2 main probs;

    1st

    the initial download (and every major update) will be close enough to 2gigs to make a dail up at least an over night affair.

    2nd

    it will take up to several minutes to go thru doors (load new map sections).

    not a prob when running solo, but not all teams will wait for you.

    so, yes it is possible.

  11. Re: red ribbon of fate power build?

    How about using the Bump of Direction talent, and instead of saying she knows where north is, that she knows where her bonded partner is?

    Alternatively you could put something together with a mind link and psychic bond, but the talent-based approach seems simpler.

    i like this idea, if for no other reason then that it takes up less then a line of text and is only 3pts

    tho i may not want to call it "Bump of Ari"

  12. yes, but not really the main point...

    the main power i want to build would alow our hero *coughyeahrightcough* to be able to "detect" the direction of a person she has formed a bond with.

    i.e. she could be in New York and know that her targe...er, friend was East, but have no idea how far East (could be Denver, could be Seattle, she wouldn't know)

    it couldn't be LOS and needs at least global range.

    other then a restricted mindscan, ideas?

  13. when not in battle (ie surrounded by flaming mini dragons) i want this character to be "no threat here, no need to spare a second glance"

    not being content to rely on FX;

    what would be a good addition?

    PS: "wallflower"?

    Concealment, Stealth or Shadowing?

    not sure i want to go as far as taking a power (ie Mind Control "don't hit me")

    think having a 5 PRE would be good enough?

  14. sooooo...

    she stands (on her toes maybe) 4'10" and she wouldn't see 100lbs if she were soaking wet with a over-weight cat in her arms.

    ...and has no gift for persuasion.

    i was thinking a 5 PRE.

    she is very hard to impress. nigh impossible.

    i was thinking +25 PRE, only useable for def (-1)

    am i over looking anything important?
