  1. We just started a 4th edition game after a 10+ year hiatus of any of us playing the game, still refamiliarizing ourselves with the game and one of our players has a superleap I haven't seen before. He has a superleap, 22" total (including Strength) X 8 Non combat, No Range modifier, then a 5" gliding, with a 4 speed. He says he can leap on phase 3, take a recovery on 6, then glide to a good place at the last moment on 12. His statement: Superleap is not like Running or Flying or Gliding. With those powers you are using the power continuously. But with Superleap the entire thing is frontloaded. You make a leap, and then you are in free fall. You may still be gaining altitude for part of the trip, but you are in free fall, just as if you had been shot out of a circus cannon (going first up and then down) or if you jumped out of a plane (just going down). You are not "doing a Superleap" in the phases where you are in free fall, you are not expending energy, you are simply going where the law of gravity takes you based on your initial leap. So I am not using two movement powers at once. I use one when I take off in segment 3. I use nothing in segments 6 and 9. I might use some Gliding in segment 12 to fine-tune the landing hex, but otherwise when I come down for a landing I am simply falling, not using a power. So the hypothetical case of "Kytus using running and flight in the same phase" is not an apt comparison. Think of it more as "riding gravity" the way one might ride a train. A train might carry you at 70 mph, but when it's your action phase you can still use your 6" running to move forward, or backwards, or sideways in comparison to your starting position in the train car. You are not considered to be using two movement powers at once, an external force (the train) is propelling you and make minor adjustments on where you stand on the train. When Zarn is in free fall, gravity is propelling him and he uses the gliding to make a minor adjustment on just where he hits the ground. What say you all?
