VPP Limitations

mruseless

Question

Hope this particular one hasn't been asked before, I searched the archives and read the FAQ, and didn't find the exact answer.

The character in question has a VPP defined as a "spore cloud" (He is essentially a giant mushroom). He can use the spores to create ranged powers (Mental Illusions) and non-ranged powers (Healing, Self Only). In any case, he cannot control his spores beyond a range of 20m. Would it be appropriate to take this as a Limited Range 20m (-1/2) on the VPP? Or should it be taken on each power individually?

If the Lim is not taken on the VPP, then couldn't the character simply build powers that do not have the Lim? This would be cheating the original special effect.

Thanks!

Whether it's "appropriate" to use one method or another is really something for you, with the input of your GM, to decide. Putting the Limitation on the VPP is certainly one valid approach, and probably the preferable one for many campaigns, but it's not necessarily the only appropriate way to do things.

As for the second part of your question -- ignore the rules technicalities of the situation. If you know a power in the VPP should have that Limitation, give it that Limitation. Don't skip the Limitation just because "you can" -- use the rules to define the power the way you know it should be defined to work as you envision it. ;)
