That's one dead couch

Assuming you can deal a mental haymaker with your Ego Attack after snagging a distant mind with an excellent Mind Scan roll, how does the target's movement affect this? If they were sitting on their couch on the other side of the planet, for example, when the mind scan caught them (without +20 "cannot detect" being used, of course) and they realised they were about to be ego attacked really hard, can they avoid the attack by getting up from the couch, thus leaving the hex--even though distance and location were irrelevent to begin with?

On a related note, if you've bought "does Knockback" for your ego attack in the above example, what direction would the target be knocked? And would the couch, (assuming the above question was true) which I realise takes no Body for not having mind as stated under Ego Attack, be knocked if the haymaker detonated there?

See the Rules FAQ for general information about the target of a Mind Scan moving. If a Haymaker's involved, the standard rules apply -- all the target has to do is move 1" or more, and the attack automatically fails.

On the Knockback issue, the GM should pick the most logical direction, or roll randomly to determine a direction, and apply some common sense when evaluating the general effects of Knockback on the local environment.
