Own your own pulp vehicle!

We got a couple of notes about upcoming classic car auctions in Buxton, Derbyshire, UK, through at work on Friday. We're not interested, but I figured some you may be.

Even if you can't afford the tens (sometimes hundreds) of thousands of pounds needed for the choice vehicles, you may want to read the cars' histories and see the pics so at least your characters could own them. :)

The next auction (July 26/27) includes a 1934 Lagonda Le Mans racer (expected to fetch between £280,000 and £350,000 - so dream on!) and three 1920s/1930s Morris Cowley tourers (far more reasonable at between £5,000 and £10,000 each).

It's well worth trawling over the website of upcoming and past auctions to find other 1920s and 1930s classic cars and bikes. Some of them are affordable. :)

Another press release indicates they're planning on selling one of the largest private collections of classic vehicles at a date to be fixed; details aren't on the website yet, but the press release says the Dick Van Dijk collection includes:

* 1931 Mercedes-Benz 370S Mannheim Cabriolet. Finished in red

and black, this sensational vehicle (one of only a handful made) has

featured in the Heidelberg Concours and carries an estimate of

£150,000-£250,000

* 1926 Hispano Suiza H6B Landaulet. Finished in Black and

yellow. Estimate: £120,000-150,000

* 1936 Jaguar SS100. An immaculate black example with great

history. Estimate: £110,000-£130,000

* 1935 Auburn Boat-tail Speedster. Yellow coachwork. Superb.

Estimate: £75,000-£100,000

* 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged Cabriolet. Black with beige

disappearing hood. Estimate: £70,000-£90,000
