Powerhouse
I've heard of some comic book characters (She Hulk in her second series is a good example) who realize they are in a comic book and act accordingly. What about a Champions character who realizes that he or she is in a super hero RPG and knows the rules? Imagine the quotes: *pounding on a villain after his accidental change transforms into his wimpy human form* "I bet that you -1/4 from 'Only in Heroic ID' doesn't seem worth it now!" *when someone practically nukes a city block* "Hey whatever happens to active point limits!" *wakes up in the morning* "come on... nine or higher baby!" (Referring his or her hunted on 8 or less)

Kirby
Re: Funny idea for a character I've thought about having an RPG character who thought he was a comic book character. That's Foxbat for you! I've been in a Dark Champions game where a PC thought it was all a movie. (Since I was new back then, he weirded me out.) What about a Champions character who realizes that he or she is in a super hero RPG and knows the rules? Imagine the quotes: In a White Wolf game, my character would make Champions references, though he wasn't delusional, he just used them, such as "Whoa, failed your perception roll there, buddy," if someone didn't see something, or "Dangit, failed my DEX roll" if he dropped something. If someone got knocked out he'd say "You should get more Stun." My roommate at the time ended up doing it also (we even carried it over into real life). It didn't last too long because the co-GMs thought we were being too weird.

Powerhouse
Re: Funny idea for a character Another idea: *To the gadgeteer when some tech villains show up*: "make an intense magnetic field... trust me." Of course, that's more 4th edition.
Ura-Maru
Re: Funny idea for a character Bastard!!’s Dark Schneider did that a lot, too. Though only Gara took the extra step of actually talking to the audience. You’d get a Hero version of ‘Order of the Stick’ Actually, most gamers do this anyway. (“Dammit! I spent 20 points on EGO, and it’s never been used once!â€) It would just be a matter of having the character say what the player is. The player would have to have some restraint, though. That kind of thing is funny if done periodically, but it gets old REAL fast when it’s done constantly. And it can spoil the atmoshphere when anyone is trying to be serious. Actually, almost any kind of ‘delusional idiot’ character tends to totally wreck any seriousness or depth that a game might have otherwise had. One of the consistent problems I’ve had with supers games is that there’s often that one guy who goes out of his way to show how stupid the whole idea of superheroes are by playing a super-friends-esqe spoiler-type. This type of thing can exacerbate that. Summary: Done as a running gag ‘wiseass character’ by a good player: Might Be Fun Done as a ‘delusional idiot’ by a bad player: No. --- “It’s no good attacking if you’re off screen when you do it! Watch this, folks!†
Powerhouse
Re: Funny idea for a character It's funny you mentioned Order of the Stick. Although I didn't chose to directly base my post on that, given that I read it religiously now (it's hysterical) it was probably an influence.
