OddHat Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Just finished Batman / Tarzan: Claws of the Catwoman. It’s a fairly good comic featuring a Pulp style Batman teamed with everyone’s favorite Lord of the Jungle. Good characterization of Greystoke here, better than you usually find in comics and pastiches. Some nice Pulp takes on Catwoman and Harvey Dent, and a fair illustration of how much of a disadvantage Code versus Killing can be for a Pulp-era hero. It’s a bit of a thin story, and doesn’t have quite the twists and cliff hangers that make for great serial style entertainment, but it’s worth reading if you’re interested in finding ways to reverse engineer modern Super characters into a Pulp adventure. Prometheus Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Re: Review: Batman Tarzan Claws of the Catwoman I liked it, though it did seem like it needed a little more space to develop. The initial meeting between Wayne and Greystoke was particularly cinematic-very well done, in my opinion. If you haven't already, you might also try tracking down Batman: The doom that came to Gotham, for Mike Mignola's take on a Lovecraftian Batman. It's listed as being out of print, but with a little work you can still find all three issues. Quote
