Movement drains and strength

tesuji

Question

One character has a power called Gravitic Anchor, defined as a drain vs ALL MOVEMENT POWERS at once (-0 exception for XDm and Teleport.)

He targets and hits a brick who has a 60 strength and thus a 12" leap with additionally +10" of superleap for 22" leap total.

The gravitic anchor rolls effect of 20 pts after power defense.

What happens?

A: brick move is reduced to 12" leap (drain affects the superleap but the leaping from strength is unaffected as strength isn't a movement power.)

B: bricks move is reduced to 2" (20 drain reduces the 22" to 2", trating the 12" from strength AS IF THEY WERE 1 ap per " leaping")

c: bricks move is reduced to 8" as 20 pts drains the 10" superleap and 20 pts is drained directly from strength which is a "movement power" since it provides leaping.

d: the bricks move is reduced to 10" as 10 pts of the drain eliminates the superleap and the remaining 10 pts lowers the strength by 10, costing 2 leaping.

In c and d, if applicable, is the strength lowered for ALL purposes or just for movement? Would he still punch for 12d6?

thanks.

Re: Movement drains and strength

The character is reduced to Leaping 2” — he has 22”, and 20” of them are removed by the Drain. The fact that some inches come from one source, and some from another, doesn’t matter for these purposes.

The character’s STR is, of course, otherwise totally unaffected. This is a Drain Movement Powers, and lifting, punching, and the like are not Movement Powers. It would certainly be possible to build a Drain STR And STR-Based Abilities power, but this isn’t that. ;)
