I notice a link to another article and read it. It's great! Well, the real cause of the Mystery Illness turns out to be kind of mundane; I mean, you could've gotten the same thing from a big explosion. But think of the possibilities! This just begs for a Pulp story; change the source of the arsenic, and you're good to go. Or, make it not arsenic, but "a compound unknown to science, with properties heretofore never seen".
