It's 4 AM and the reading on tonight's random wiki page got me going. I'm not sure if I would call Harvester a tragic hero, more of a killer or killers. Normally, I like to use the Code verses Killing but tonight it's a bit diffrent. Harvester is to some extent a tribute characters placed in the wrong setting. Hope you enjoy:

Blackrazor Gauntlets , all slots OIF (-½), Soul Eater (-½)

Notes: The Blackrazor Gauntlets appear as two serpents intertwined around the forearm. Through the center runs a black metal bar. The bars are mystic prisons for two powerful spirits, Aegwareth and Keraptis. Forever at war they were bound to keep their fury from inflicting its wrath on the physical world.

- - -

Eternally at war their struggle is the source of the Gauntlets power. They cannot be separated by more than two body lengths. Aegwareth, the more benevolent of the two spirits will not allow it. Originally an order of Druids kept the Blackrazor Gauntlets at bay, binding them to their will. It is believed that The Order of the Sun may have led to the death of the last Arm Bearer.

- - -

Aegwareth the Right Gauntlet, the aegis crafts powerful shields of the Black metal to protect the wearer. Keraptis the Left Gauntlet, the gladius creates deadly black blades. To appease Keraptis the bearer of the Blackrazor Gauntlets must kill once a day using the gladius. However, to appease Aegwareth the victim must be tainted having committed a crime worthy of death, murder, rape, or torture. Until the Blackrazor Gauntlets are appeased the bearer only has access to the Blackrazor Blade.

Background/History: Once an archeologist working in Italy, Gerald Fletcher specialized in pagan artifacts. After spending nine months at a dif site Fletcher returned to his home in southern Oregon. A day after his arrival a package was delivered by normal channels although the driver seemed greatly unnerved by something, even scared and all to happed to be rid of the parcel. Although troubling that a courier who should have no knowledge of the delivery he paid it little attention beyond the fact.

Inside the packing box was an iron case, within that, a set of bracers each with two intertwined serpents. As if in a dream a wave of force seemed to bleed from the gauntlets something ancient, powerful. Fletcher found it hard to shrug off the feeling of dread. Inside the case a single piece of parchment was let with a message in Italian.

“Perhaps with you they can rest. Do not let them be taken again.”

The parcel contained no return address, and no name; although, the shipping labels placed the package through Italy, Germany before reaching the states.

Immediately sparking Fletchers curiosity he began researching the designs and the history of the gauntlets. Each day that passed he felt them call to him. As if they needed to be worn. Within a week Fletcher found himself beyond obsessed crippled and afraid to leave them as he sought their history. After the second week his first breakthrough came as he uncovered a fable known as Blackrazor.

A druid and elder sworn to hold back sprits that tormented the land was given a pair of gauntlets to be used in sacrifices. The idea seemed almost surreal as the story dated to somewhere between third and fourth century BC. The craftsmanship and alloys used in the gauntlets seemed to place their creation in the late sixteenth century. Before he could send a sample for carbon testing Fletcher was attacked.

Two men broke into his home; Fletcher was in his study and quickly hid. Watching, they seemed control the weather, summoning lightning and gales of wind to tear through the house. Without though Fletcher knew they had come for the bracers. No longer could he resist the temptation, knowing that if he was going to escape with them he would need their strength.

Donning the gauntlets for the first time twenty five centuries of history filled his mind as he saw the battles of the spirits and how they came to be bound. More than this there came the bloodlust. Fear was destroyed as Fletcher tore into the men. The secrets of Blackrazor at his disposal the cultists had little chance for survival. As he tore and cleaved through the assailants Fletcher felt distanced, the passenger as the Blackrazor Gauntlets had their fill. Even disconnected as he was it was impossible to escape the horrors of the act. White Plumes of smoke drifting from their mouths as they died. The shock came to him like a hear attack. Two men killed by his hands, yet, Fletcher felt no remorse. There in the hollowed lifeless eyes he saw the evil in their heart and the cruelties of lives. Fletcher had killed and it was evil and wrong and it sent pain coursing his body and yet it was righteous and good at the same time.

Unable to remove the gauntlets Fletcher heard the voices of the spirits and knew they were cultists as members of the Order of the Sun; A sect of monster hunters that would come for him so long as he bore the weight of the Blackrazor Gauntlets. Unsure where to turn Fletcher sought advice from one of his friends from college. This was the second mistake in Fletchers road to damnation.

Charles Lee was a mid level manager for a tech company in the area. They met at a bar not far from where he worked. It had been less than an hour since the attack on his home but Fletcher was afraid to call the police as they might try to take the “weapon” as evidence. As they sat down Fletcher say immediately the truth of his old friend. After grad school Charles had married a woman from Mexico. It was now that he saw the truth, she had been bough from a smuggler, beaten until she accepted him as her husband and kept prison ever since. Before he could say hello the Blackrazor Blade had slipped cleanly across Charles stomach. His last words:

“Fletcher, you, you killed me.”

“No, not Fletcher, Harvester.” The white plume drifted from his friends lips as Fletcher spoke. Consumed by rage he saw all their sins. In the bar there were thirty patrons, mostly business men, four lived. Since that time Fletcher has stayed on the run. In his mind there is no doubt what will become of him should he be caught. Each day is a struggle to control the needs of the Blackrazor Gauntlets, his only solace; those that fall earned their suffering. Those that come to him seek to join the Harvest.

Personality/Motivation: Fletcher is torn, the call of the sprits makes it impossible to release the gauntlets and he fears he is growing to like the power they give him. Each killing a nightmare he knows he’s inflicted and yet he knows is retribution for crimes unpunished. Fletcher lives in fear of loosing control again and carefully chooses where he goes to avoid the call of the spirits and need of the harvest.

Quote: “My sin? It is that I cannot look away from yours.”

Appearance: Tall and somewhat slender Fletcher has put on some muscle in the last few months. Fletcher often wears a long purple or black turtlenecks and slacks with a jacket to conceal the Blackrazor Gauntlets. When acting as the Harvester Fletchers eyes are blotted out and appear black.
