gewing
This blew my mind when I heard it on the radio the other night. YES, it is a HUGE city, but still... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7926263.stm 6000 children reported missing in the last two years, acknowledged by the Police? And others say there are even more? Police statements claim many of the children "Eloped." What, the 2 year olds? This could feed plotlines on evil cults, child prostitution, organ leggers, or, well the range is mind boggling and vomit inducing. It reminded me, I heard some huge statistic on persons reported missing in the US in a given Year. Doing some looking around, I find "Missing Adults Statistics According the Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Crime Information Center (NCIC) there are 50,930 active missing adult cases in the United States as of January 31, 2007. NCIC also reports 6,218 active cases of unidentified persons. " copied from http://www.theyaremissed.org/ncma/index.php trying to find some basic numbers on kids was even more disturbing. " According the FBI’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC) 85% to 90% of the 876,213 persons reported missing to America’s law enforcement agencies in 2000 were juveniles (persons under 18 years of age). That means that 2,100 times per day parents or primary care givers felt the disappearance was serious enough to call law enforcement. 152,265 of the persons reported missing in 2000 were categorized as either endangered or involuntary. The number of missing persons reported to law enforcement has increased from 154, 341 in 1982 to 876,213 in 2000. That is an increase of 468%." copied from http://www.klaaskids.org/pg-mc-mcstatistics.htm Maybe the concept of World of Darkness style predators amongst us is not as far fetched as I thought. Damn, a really dark campaign could easily come out of these numbers.
