I was going to make a big post with lots of pictures, but decided that it was a huge pain in the butt to find all that stuff. So I yoinked a couple and I'll put them here, expecting others to do the same. Criteria for this is that the gun is a bit different. Anyone can go and look up the military weapons of various eras that have been in use for some time. I'd like to see some of the different ones, though it doesn't have to be crazy. So, for my entry, I present two iterations of the S&W .500 Magnum X-Frame revolver. One is a full-on snubby, and one is a 4" barreled snubby. This is basically a big bore old-school style round for a revolver that really belong…

I have to admit, as a GM, I got nothin'. But this is the sort of driving I could see as an escape from a bad situation in Dark CHamp[ions, or Danger International. I don't think the Hero rules for vehicles are all that good. Autoduel CHampions may work better, though?

I ran across this discussion of how fiber cables can be used for seismic monitoring. Those folks are interested in actual geology, but an adequately sensitive and discriminatory microquake seismic system has long been in my toolbox of super-tech anti-intrusion systems.

Anyone remeber this and played it? Anything from it you've brought over to Dark Champion's?

In the comics, the Batman can self-fund his relentless war on crime thanks to Bruce Wayne’s inherited billions. Peter Parker sells pictures of his masked vigilante activities to pay for his crimefighting expenses. On the other end of the spectrum from Bruce Wayne, the Punisher will blow away drug dealers and other lowlifes before walking out with one or more satchel bags full of cash, repeating as necessary whenever he needs to buy more equipment. How does your character fund their war on crime?

Saw some articles indicating that the US is supplying Switchblade kamikaze drones to Ukraine: AeroVironment Switchblade - Wikipedia The 300 has a warhead equivalent to a 40mm grenade. The 600 has an anti-tank warhead comparable to a Javelin ATGM. So throw those values in, write up a vehicle with the stated speed/range characteristics and guidance systems, maybe up the DCV to represent how difficult it is to intercept, and you've got a HERO System writeup! 😃

E-Sports are quite popular; they even have their own section on the msn.com homepage. That popularity, combined with the current fighting in Ukraine and some Cyberpunk ideas, produced the following RPG idea today (warning: this can get really dark really fast). E-Wars Imagine today or the near future, but with a neural implant and software that allows a remote ‘Gamer’ to control another person through that implant. The person with the implant must give over control (“HotShot357 is requesting control. Accept?”) and can resume control (with some difficulty). This is used willingly by ordinary people to be more effective in local conflicts, mostly…

This was supposed to be a complete book, but I didn't have the oomph to finish it (yet) so I post it here for review/feedback. I love the WW2 setting so that became the emphasis for this. Could be any setting, really. Skirmish HERO.pdf

It was interesting from a nerd POV, but someone had way too much time on their hands.

I used to, and it had both advantages and disadvantages - for example the Champions characters had to play by Dark Champions when visiting. What are your experiences?

In worlds with only super-skills and gadgets and no real superpowers, would a prison in a Dark Champions universe be much different than the real world? Is there any information on Dark Champions prisons other than what is in the Hudson City sourcebook?

So I got to thinking about my figure collection and Hero System. Naturally I want to use my figs as much as possible, so I thought up a game of super-powered airborne infantry invading France in 1944. The characters will be under 5th ed. revised, 250-300 points worth of superpowered individuals, but with human weaknesses to bullets, strangulation and other "natural" means of dying. Think of the Godlike RPG when imagining characters. So the player characters drop into Normandy in the first session, and have to link up with their HQ. Combats will be handled with miniatures on terrain, and other stuff will be ToTM. I will be designing the characters for t…

I don't know how many folks out there are familiar with SCP (Secure, Contain, Protect) fandom out there. starting first as creepypasta on Reddit, it has grown into all sorts of activities. Recently they released a near professional fan film called Overlord, and i feel this could be an inspiration for a horror based, or X-Files flavored Dark Champions game. Take a look.

So I started playing this video game the other day and was totally drawn in by the "vintage" take on the classic Call of Duty formula. I like the stylistical choices in the game, especially the first mission where dudes are plain-clothes, armed with assault weapons and going after enemies of the State. The bug bit me hard. So I gained back my tabletop motivation (after burning out on multiple projects) and started thinking of ways to do this latest Black Ops game on the tabletop. I'll start working on a campaign guidelines document, but I was hoping to steal you guys' ideas and then make the document with input from other people. What d…

This thread is for material that evokes a "Dark Champions" feeling. Guidelines: *Anything 1950s and onward, please. Before this, and the feel of "Pulp" becomes greater. *Near-future is okay. Too far into the future, however, and we're in Star Hero territory. ---

So I've been playing this video game series a lot lately, and I started thinking about implementing it on the tabletop. How would one design the various drones and special equipment that's used in the game?

Every year a mysterious Maffia boss forces some tough people to run the Death Race in Hudson City. Lots of money in bets around the world, hidden cameras in the cars and the streets, thousands of spectators, the police trying to stop them or infiltrate a driver, drivers running for their lives or the money or trying to discover and kill this boss. Well, I only have this idea, but could grow into an adventure. Drawbacks I see so far, which is the race course to follow and why the police could not stop them with helicopters.

Yeah another one. This one by Steven Jay Ruben. I honestly have to give it 4 out of 5. And the only reason it looses the star is even some of the newer material is dated, though you can't blame the writer on that part. The book covers all the movies up to the latest (No Time to Die). It covers the movies themselves in detail, all the actors who played Bond in the official films (so no Woody Allen guys). Not only does it cover the characters but has some info on the actors themselves (even if it's a short blurb on one actor who later appeared in Die Hard). A full listing of all the Bond women by film. There is a nice mix of b/w and color photos (including some …
