    Re: Blasters: why? Slug throwers mostly just fire a single round at a time. Even the ones that fire very rapidly (using a great weight of ammunition) don't fire continuously. A blaster could conceivably fire a continuous beam. This would make it much easier to hit a target. Alternatively, it could yield greater damage for more skilled shooters who can keep the beam on target for more of its firing cycle.
