Re: Basic Rules Skills Thanks, Nolgroth for the reply. I read through the link and it's really useful. I'm working on creating a superheroic character and it's seeming daunting, and I was hoping to convince my play group to try it. Just wish we had an experienced HERO System player in the group to walk us through character creation. I'm pretty sharp so I'm sure that I'll be able to figure it out, it's just so different from d20. I really really like what I've seen so far and am super excited to play a game.

Re: Basic Rules Skills Great, thanks Vondy. That makes some sense. It seems that HERO System is a bit complicated. That may be because of my only having played d20 systems prior. Do you find that once you "catch on" the system is quick and fun? I really like the idea of the system being versatile, but I'm feeling over whelmed by the new rules set at this point.

Hello, this is my first post. I bought the basic rules at GenCon and I'm trying to build a character to learn the system. I've played Star Wars SAGA and 4th Edition D&D before now. I don't understand how to use the skills system, specifically how the combat skills work. Is there somewhere that explains in more detail the Combat Skill Levels? Where are skills for Pistols, Swords, etc.? Is that just Weapon Familiarty? Once I purchase weapon familiarity, do I then purchase Combat Skill Levels? Thanks for any help
