  1. Re: Current Champions or will 4th Edition suffice?

4th edition is a perfectly serviceable game.

edit: I understand used copies of 6th edition are very hard to find. Meaning, those who have them want to keep them. That right there says something about the value of the game.

I recall having a discussion sometime back here and being shot down about my collecting HERO books as an investment tool as a bad thing and that the collecting of RPG books was stupid because you would never make a dime back on them......Right.....I see My copies of HERO are now invaluable. Just like my BESM 3E that I sold for $250.00 when I got it for $10.00, who's the idiot now?

  2. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?

I thought you wanted them to publish it. This line of reasoning seems to suggest they would be foolish to do so.

Wow...you really took that meaning out of context huh? And wrong! Buy comparing a main line rule book which everyone will buy (player & GM) sales will automatically be higher on the scale, compared to a GM based book only (a companion book that only a GM will buy)......That is what I was talking about.

I suspect that "one large book" would have needed some content cut or it would be too large to be viable (as a paper product' date=' anyway - a pdf's length can be pretty much unlimited).[/quote']

OK and Book 1 being over 460 pages isn't too big to be viable, ok your point is well taken...duhhhh. Come again? And yes, RPG books do appreciate in value, try and get a copy of some of the Star Wars Saga edition books without paying through the nose now, or BESM 3rd edition, don't give me that, try selling your pdf's, oh that's right, YOU CAN'T its ILLEGAL! My Point....

But to each his own and this thread is tiring, so I have said all I care to say, good day all......I shall have no more of it.

  3. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?

As to PDF's, I don't buy them and I don't care for people who do. I think they are a waste of time and money, as they are non-collectable, valueless pieces of trash in the long run, easily lost in a computer meltdown and hard to recover, my books are true value, I can resell them for money later on down the line, sometimes for way more when they are long out of print, allot of books gain value and become rare, pdf's do not hold this distinction, they are worthless trash in this regard. I will never see the value of these stupid pdf's, until they become legal to transfer and resell just like a paper copy book, otherwise to me they are just crap and a way for a business to make easy money for no work hardly at all on its poor customers, who pay like HERO charges extreme amounts for PDF's, that are almost the cost of a printed book, so why should I pay 2/3rds the cost of a printed book for a pdf and just pay a little more and get the book that GAINS VALUE in the long run over a worthless pdf? Riddle me this Batman! This is why I want my CV3.....Sorry for the rant but it's how I feel..

  4. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?

PDFs are a vital part of our business' date=' and grow every year as a percentage of our sales. When I say CV1 and 2 are mildly (Mildly!) disappointing in sales it's because I'm comparing them directly to our other Sixth Ed books, which of course also have PDFs. The Villains books so far are the lowest-selling books in the 6th Ed line, 11th and 12th place overall, with Star and Beyond still listed as "incomplete.". I'm not making this stuff up, guys. dw[/quote']

Well you should not compare a companion GM's book to a main line core game rules book, any 1st year grad student out of college could have told you that. Second you should have just made it into one large book of villains and been done with it, instead of trying to pull off the magic of 3 books that will never be a complete set because I have seen these kind of stallings and excuses from other publishers before, it always ends the same, a canceled book.

  5. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?

Well like I said before, I like several others are new to Champions and don't have the vast array of books that everyone here seems to have access to, so we need these CV1-3 books, for those of you who have all your 5th ed. books, burn them and then you will see what I'm talking about as you will be in the same boat. ("Still on strike until CV3 is printed!")

  6. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?

Second, a lot of GM's would tell you they don't need villain books or vehicle - they can make their own. In fact, a number of posters have also indicated they won't buy the 6e Villains books because they can just update the 5e character sheets. As well, I suspect players of heroic games are in no great rush to have a third volume of super villains published..

Good for them, but I don't have a vast warehouse of 5th edition books to live off of, some of us need these books, if HERO would just do as they intended all would be well, it still has nothing to do with the fact that it leaves a gap in solo villains which I needed to complete my collection and the fact there are some really cool villains in that book. There is no reason APG 2 should have been printed before CV3 anyhow! Then to top it off is the front page splash; "All I’ve done this week is work on Chapter Three of The Book Of The Empress. This is one of the biggest chapters of the book — it covers the Imperial Legions, her vast military machine. I’ve been writing up character sheets for some of her thousands of superhuman soldiers. As a bonus, I’ve included a list of all the villains in Champions Villains, Vols. 2-3."

Thats nice so the next book we'll see printed is "The Book of the Empress", that is going to include CV3 character lists WHY!? They haven't even printed the damn book yet!

I am not buying one more book until they print CV3, that's a promise....I am on strike until then.

  7. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?

Just another smoke screen to me, more of the same BS! Just print the book already....... I see the Advanced Players guide #2 hit shelves wow really another worthless tome, I need my villains book or some good setting and universe books, but these guides to tell me how to change rules or rework stuff in the game, come on, I GM and can figure that out on my own, I really don't need a book to tell me how to do it, I don't even use the first one I picked up. A good vehicle guide would have made more sense.

  8. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?

Well as the OP back in May, its now what Sept. 8th., 4 months later and I still can't get a copy of this book in my hands but I am able to get Star Hero and Champions Beyond, which I now have, it is now going beyond disappointment to pure madness, I am starting to really get upset with this company over this, if you can't print the thing, turn it over to LULU and let it become a POD so we can at least get our hands on it, this is just stupid now. Patients is one thing but the excuses are beginning to run thin.

  9. Re: What do you really think of Champions Online?

I quit playing after they went FTP, they ruined my characters when they changed the power setup structure, I loved the freeform original system, the new system is way too liner and feels wrong. I really wish they would have used the actual HERO system with point building powers from the books, to me thats champions, not levels.

  10. Re: Champions Villains, Volume 3: Solo Villains

In this economy who can afford to double dip in buying the PDFs and books. I am choosing the latter though I bought all three villian books in PDF. As supporter since '82 of the HERO/CHAMPION system I am eagerly awaiting this product. Mutants and Masterminds seems to be having the same kind of issues, presently. Personally I don't care for PDF's and I would point out they are easily pirated and dissemenated digital just google some titles. I 've even turned them into you guys in the past because I know that is how you make your living.

I don't know if issues cuts it with me, though. Just one other word would have sufficed though, ie, financial issues, timing issues, etc. No one owes me nothing especially an explanation but I have quit playing 6th edition because right now and went back to 5th. I've also have been dabbling with old school D&D. In the past, I have stuck with HERO for years refusing to game when I could not run it or play it.

Thanks for the answer of sorts, it's better nothing. While we fans do not need to be "in the loop", we deserve a little more than silence.

Well I would get the PDF's if they were cheaper, but at $28+ a pop! thats just a little too much to chew for electronic BS, half that to look at and maybe, because I can get the printed book for $32 on Amazon when it comes out anyhow. I want my Ch:Vil:Solo Vol3 in print and now, its taking way too long, I have bought all the other books in print so far and I will agree, PDF's suck when it comes to pirate's too easy but I still want print, I am an old schooler who hates electronic media, I think its going to be the downfall of the RPG industry in the end.:thumbdown

  11. Is the Villains (Solo) book#3 ever going to see a hardcopy?

I have all the other champions books and have been waiting forever for this book to get printed so i can get a finished hardcopy to complete my set, is it ever coming and when?

    I don't want a pdf.

    Thanks
