Actually using Two weapons if you are properly trained does allow you to attack multiple times OR use one for defense. You attack simoulaneously with both weapons. Its taught in two weapon fighting styles like Escrima, Kali and certain schools of fencing. At least that is what I have learned. That's in the real world.

I can't speak for guns I've never tried to use two at once. I suppose you could point them both and shoot at once.

In a cinematic world such as what Hero tends to emulate both of them are obviously a pretty effective technique. Personally, I haven't had any problems with Two Weapon fighting, certainly nothing game breaking. And everything in Hero is optional. You don't want them in your game, don't use them but I don't think they should excised from the game entirely because you don't like them.

Background Summary: The Master (Jeffery Hedgeworth) is the product of a conservative Christian home steeped in the traditional values of the American Midwest. Jeffery grew up in the late 20th century knowing his was “different†but never bold enough to experiment and find out just how. That is until he found the internet. Suddenly there was a place for him, safe, anonymous where he could explore the confused but compelling feelings inside him and become the person he truly was. Hedgeworth took the screen name “The Master†on several online chat rooms and adult MMORPGs, a consummate homosexual dominator and bondage play specialist. It was his secret world and his escape from the humdrum life of a married Midwestern accountant.
Eventually though, he became bored with this. Typing and a plain screen weren’t enough and, filled with self loathing and guilt, Hedgeworth arranged a meeting with one of his online clients, another bored young man of the opposite bent. It might be a cliché, but perhaps it really was a match made in Heaven. The two clicked instantly and had one long weekend of passionate, painful sex that changed their lives forever. Hedgeworth’s more than his partner’s though. He found himself in more ways than one while wielding a whip. Most Novas describe their Eruptions as painful and a few describe an incredible bliss and sense of freedom. For Hedgeworth is was both. Pain and pleasure were always one for him and now he practically embodied that principle and The Master was truly born.
Hedgeworth immediately understood what had happened to him. Using his new charisma and parlaying his new talents with the help of other “contacts†he’d made online, he open his own clubs across the country. Of course, he divorced his baseline wife with a generous alimony and child support arrangement as he wanted to take care of the responsibilities of his former life. He also bore his former family no ill will, despite the fact they publicly disowned him. He didn’t care one whit. It wasn’t like he needed them anymore. Today “The Master†is one of the more outspoken and controversial members of the Queen Nova Alliance, a consortium of Gay/Lez/Bi superhumans. He’s one of the founding members, yet has some views which are unpopular even among the group being almost militantly against “Straights†and “Prudes†and often vocally so. He’s done a few things to earn the QNA bad publicity in the past (such as “breaking in†the son of a prominent Southern Baptist preacher and parading him around a Gay Pride demonstration in a leather thong). There have been a couple of attempts on his life, but The Master considers it the price of being a “revolutionaryâ€.
