  1. Re: Your Character's Comic Book

My one character Manga, was based off of an artist obtaining a power armor suit and then using the comicbook as his own PR.

Personally, I would want Alex Ross to do the art. I love his work and I am a huge fan of Kingdom Come

  2. Re: Pain/Pleasure

In general' date=' unless there's something specific going on with the concept, a character's superpowers are convenient. Even if you can fly at several times the speed of sound, but aren't invulnerable, the air friction isn't going to peel your flesh off (same with Speedsters). The whole square-cube law for size altering characters has to be suspended ... so don't sweat it too much. ;)[/quote']

I whole-heartedly agree with this statement.

  3. Re: Evil Idea: Doomsday Disease Attack

Not to be a kill-joy... but what about making the disease a plot point and forget about writing it up in infinite detail. Figure out how it kills.... IE: the damage and such.... How it spreads and how long it incubates could all be ploy devices....

    Just my two cents.

  4. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign

So' date=' for the sake of his players' sanity, [b']quit encouraging him[/b]! :help:

    Lonewalker

    (Just kidding, bro! :snicker: )

Quit encouraging him? I only wish I had a GM with that much initiative!!!

keyes_bill, keep up the great work and keep posting!! I think I can post for many people when I say the adventrues are great.

  5. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign

My favorite time playing him was when the good guys knew the megavillain had about 20 nukes in various places, all set to launch towards Washington DC. We staged an elaborate attack on one of the missile silos in the hope of disabling it completely before they could warn the other silos to launch. Once we disabled the missile, we got word that the bad guy had launched his other missiles.

Everyone else: Oh my god! He launched the missiles!

Johann: Excellent, and right on schedule, too.

    Everyone else: WHAT?!?

Johann: Think about it. We didn't know where all the missiles were. Now we do. And we have 20-someodd of the world's most powerful supers here, each of which is more than capable of stopping an ICBM in fight. Our enemy just shot his wad; all we have to do is bring tissues.

Well it's unique.. I'll give you that..

Sometimes doing the right thing means doing the "not so right" thing.

If your moral compass gets too messed up don't forget... helping cats out of trees and little-old-ladies to cross the street always indicate a true north.

  6. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign

Well... You could spin it to your advantage....

Embrace Penny as a convert... Hold a big press conference to declare to the world that Penny is turning to the good side and that she is going to be assisting UNITY with thier quest to stop the bad guys. Also hint that she is providing intel.

Once you do this... you will make UNITY look good for being able to "convert" a bad girl and also you will have alerted all the bad guys to her presense. They will probably be afraid of what she is going to tell UNITY so the first order of business will be to silence her.

    One assassination later....

You don't have a love-sick psycho on your hands

UNITY gets GOOD PR for converting the bad girl

One less super criminal in the world.

After the assassination, you hold another press conference and state that you are deeply saddened (try squeezing out a tear) by her loss but that it only goes to show that UNITY had in fact converted her and that the baddies were afraid of what she might say.

Like I said... A WIN WIN situation.

Of course there is always that moral issue of whether or not you are responsible for her death.....

  7. Re: Theme Super Hero Teams

It might seem really cliche'... but what about an Elemental Team?

I used to play the Legend of the Five Rings game and I designed elemental armors that enhanced an aspect of the wearer's base abilities.

You could create a team based on the five elements.

    Earth

    Water

    Air

    Fire

Spirit. (In L5R, this was called Void. The premise was the spirit as the binding force of the elements in each of us.)

  8. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign

(Mind you' date=' Penny Dreadful would probably be a bit of a handful between the sheets, I mean Supervillains are probably into all sorts of kinky stuff . . . :D )[/quote']

That might be true.... but it is the quiet ones that can turn out to be the bigger freaks!!

Penny: "Who's your bowmaster now? Say my name b***h."

Straight Arrow: " You are! You are my Bowmaster!!"

  9. Re: Theme Super Hero Teams

In 4E, I ran a game based on the Punchinello adventure in "Heroic Adventures 2. He was going to kidnap a child star at a mall appearance and was foiled by Playtime (Kingdom of Heroes). Because Punchinello used toy based gadjets, I used any published (with changes regarding sex) characters with a "toy" theme and made them is underlings.

Punchinello (Picture from Enemies International, write up from Heroic Adventures 2) Due to his domineering towards women psych, all the toys must be female so he can boss them.

Frizbee (twin sister of Enemies 1 villian who was killed)

Yo-yo (crazy technician who stole original Yo-yo's armor- from "Heroic Adventures 1")

    Skate Kate (direct from C.L.O.W.N.)

Marbles (dragged into this by Skate Kate)

Hopscotch (used the picture for Flip in Enemies for Hire minus the card/acrobatic martial artist)

Marionette (converted from Villians & Vigilantes- Punchinello's second in command)

I like this idea.... I might have to borrow it.

Now all I have to do is track down pictures and stats

  10. Re: Theme Super Hero Teams

An amusing team might be a mythological one, but base it off the names of the planets of the solar system rather than a pantheon, per se. Not only is it a tight theme, there's lots of humorous injokes as well.

"Do we even need Pluto here? I thought scientists decided it wasn't a planet."

"It's prounounced 'UHR-uh-nus', not 'Your Anus', dammit."

"Dammit, Jupiter, I know you're a gas giant, but did you eat burritos last night or what? I mean, DAAAAMN!"

Now that is an interesting idea.... minus the burritos. Since each planet is named after a god to begin with, it would be easy to grant their powers.

    Mercury: Winged Messenger (Speedster)

Mars: Bringer of War (Possible Brick or heavy combat)

Venus: Bringer of Peace (Possible Healing powers)

    Also known as Aphrodite.

Jupiter: Leader of the gods, also known as the god of justice.

Saturn: The god of agriculture: Plant powers??

Uranus: The Magician/Mystic; also associated with the sky

    Neptune: Water-based powers

Pluto: Stealth and Concealment. Trickster? The dark brooding

    character. Also known as Hades.

Terra: Earth control powers? Also called Gaia.

This is the planets and if you wanted to get interesting, you could have a 10th member called "X" that runs around like a toady to Pluto.

  11. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign

So if I may paraphrase... A Baywatch Babe with super powers??

    Gotcha...

In a Champions game I ran before, one of the characters had a love interest that was a supermodel / weapons dealer. Imagine a Female Punisher that looked drop dead in a swimsuit....

  12. OK... Time for another "HOW WOULD YOU DO IT" thread

You may or may not know of the Bio-Booster Armor Guyver ...

One of the people I play with wanted to create a similar kind of character, in which the symbiote grants a boost to the powers and stats.

    This is the question....

Can you (and how do you) design a character in which any END usage is take partially from an Endurance Reserve and partially from the hosts own END. Can this be done?

The only way I could think of it is to apply home brewed limiters

  13. Re: Superpowers that haven't been thought out...

Not a Super Power per se...but in FF 7 why the heck didn't Cloud use a Phoenix Down on Aeris? Shoot, that's what the darn things are for.

And on the technology thing...We have Shield/FF-4/Avengers/Defenders/Justice League/etc with all that darn high tech...but does it ever make it to the "common" man/woman? No. That to me is lame. I'm not talking about the weapons, I'm talking about the derivative tech that would/could/has been developed (Remember...NASA was the originator of the Microwave Oven...).

As it is true that high tech has a trickle down effect, you might also consider that the tech they use is not commonly known to be in existance and also, that if you were a secret group that had advanced tech that gave yu an edge in a battle between good and evil... would you really want it to get out??

  14. Re: Person of Steel, Significant Other of Tissue paper

I usually never see the homoerotic subtext in shows which everyone claims is present (Mulder and anyone? not so much). But with Smallville even I was saying "Holy Crap!" every time Clark and Lex were making with the bedroom eyes at each other. Of course' date=' Clark had relatively no chemistry with anyone else...[/quote']

OK.. here I draw the line.... Clark and Lex in a hidden homosexual relationship? That is absurd.

If anything, both of them are powerful people... Clark with the Superman stuff and Lex with the Lots and Lots of cash thing. I have always seen it like two lions stalking each other, waiting to make a power play. Clark wants to protect his secret and stop Lex from finding out.. Lex knows Clark is hiding something and is trying to find out.

In my honest opinion... If people see the homosexual tendencies in the show it is becasue they WANT there to be some. The dirtiest show out there is the one that is shown behind your eyes. With Xena and Gabrielle, the producers actually came out and said that after the first few seasons and the massive lesbian fan base that was out there.... they started playing up to them.... specifically writing scenes that made it rather apparent that they had lesbian tendencies..

In Smallville, I think people are reading into it WAY TOO MUCH!!!!

The people seeing the homosexual aspect in the show are the same type that McCarthy used to fuel his own political agenda and the "Reds under the Beds" scare.

Sorry if I have offended or angered anybody but how about we step back and take a reality check?? Before you ask... Yes I have seen the show and have the first season on DVD. Honestly, I have started watching the show less, becasue I am getting tired of the "new villian of the week" concept that seems to draw no attention from any of the other heroes. I'd like to see cameos from other herees. I saw the episode where Wally West showed up. That was cool. How about some of the older charatcers? JSA anybody???

  15. Re: Person of Steel, Significant Other of Tissue paper

As far as the compatiblity of Kryptonian and Wonder Woman' s DNA.. I think you are forgetting one very important thing.

At last I knew... Wonder Woman was molded from clay and brought to life by her mother and Hades. (who were an item) That makes Wonder Woman a little less than Homo Sapien.... More like Homo Sapien Clayien. (Yeah.. I made it up)

Anyway.... The idea that a walking, talking lump of clay would follow the standards of "human" reproduction is unreasonable. After all... the comics never really discuss "all" the issues of the reproductive cycle. When was the last time you heard a female hero complain that he body-hugging suit was too tight due to PMS??

It has been mentioned before that the writers control the reality of the books. Each writer adds their own spin onto things. I am a huge Green Lantern fan (if you didn't already know) and even I have to admit the ending stages of Hal Jordan's first tenure were getting lame. The writers were doing things that were getting really questionable BUT that was their reality. In one issue, a comment is made that the ring wearer can do anything they want... (including making openings in walls and cielings... and then in another issue, a statement is made that the wearer can only make what they know. They could make what looks like an x-ray machine but unless they know how the x-ray amchine works... it will just be a good look-alike. Personally, I like the idea that the person must know what they are doing. But that is me. SOme of you might like the Hal Jordian approach... Personally, I liked the pre-Ion Kyle Rayner. To each their own.

  16. Re: The Great Finality

In my campaign, death is final... Unless th eplayer can come up with a really cool idea as to why the character should be able to return.

So far, reincarnation has been suggested and so has possession.

I have to say that I am rather impressed with the way DC has handled the return of Hal Jordan. It actually doesn't max out my cheese-o-meter.

  17. Re: Character Idea....

To me' date=' it sounds like a classic "Only In Hero ID" character.[/quote']

That was what I was thinking. He only has the powers when he is wearing the armor. No ring-thing for this guy.

I just thought that it would be interesting.
