  1. Re: Critter Help Are you looking for a real world lizard or a fantastical one? Unfortunately, there are not very many real world lizards that are venomous... the gila monster is one that I can think of off the top of my head, though I know there is at least one other and probably several. You could always use the komodo dragon as well... not venomous per se, but possesses perhaps the filthiest bite in the animal kingdom (full of nasty bacteria that cause paralysis and rapid death). For a fantastical lizard, might I suggest something like the "spider gecko", a relatively harmless climbing lizard, named for the weblike pattern of camouflage on its back, that secretes an exceptionally toxic poison from its skin. Like the arrow poison tree frogs of South America, the spider gecko is used by local tribes to poison the tips of blowdarts (I'd place the creature somewhere in Indonesia).

It angers him when people run screaming from his grotesque form, and he tends to take it out on the scenery. He has devoted himself to protecting valuable pieces of art, but lately has found himself coveting them for himself. He is not far from becoming an art thief himself. His only true friend is Olivia, a young orphan who has befriended him. While normally not a violent person, a threat to her will bring out the dark rage that he usually hides deep within his soul.Quote:Stop screaming! I just came in to admire the new exhibits...Background: Victor LeBeau was a promising young artist whose life was changed when he received a mysterious crate, sender unknown. Curious, he opened the crate, finding within a grotesque gargoyle statue. Before he could do more than glance at it, he was lost in the swirling red glare from its eyes. When he awoke, he found that somehow his body and soul had merged with the gargoyle. He fled in terror to a local cathedral, where he hid amongst the statuary until he fell asleep. When he awoke, he was surprised to find that he had been shipped to Paragon City along with several other statues to become the centerpiece of a new art exhibition. Unfortunately, he awoke during the opening gala of the exhibition, and the screams of the terrified crowd still echo in his ears... Powers/Tactics: Gargoyle is not too subtle in combat, relying mainly on hand-to-hand and gliding move-by attacks. If he is seriously injured, he will feign death until his opponent leaves or exposes himself to attack.Campaign Use: As you can see, I've upped the DEX to 18 (I just don't see him getting much more than that, as he is made of stone and all...). I've taken the suggestions regarding multipowering his attacks and the wall walking (the RSR was a holdover from an earlier version I'd forgotten about). As far as the Extra Limbs goes, he does in fact have 6 limbs (two arms, two prehensile feet, and two wings), but I couldn't figure out how to do them as one power since only the wings have the limitation on manipulation. I just figured that based on that, they were in fact two separate abilities. (Especially since I eventually plan on adding an AOE HtH attack, special effect being he flaps his wings enough to hover above the ground while striking at all opponents around him with both hands and feet). I figured they would be inherent, since no amount of Dispel or Suppress is going to make them go away, although their use might be hampered for a bit.I kept Ambidexterity since he can use each limb independently (I plan on doing some swooping grabs then attacking with the feet). Simulate Death is there to account for his ability to sleep utterly motionless, and allow him to enter a suspended animation when necessary. His disads I tweaked a bit. I wanted to keep the two kill-related psych lims (the rationale being he won't normally kill, doesn't care if others do, but will lash out lethally if his DNPC is threatened). This is more a roleplay issue, as I don't intend there to otherwise be an EGO roll involved in his choice of lethal intent. Unluck stays (how unlucky do you have to be to accidentally receive an evil artifact in the mail?), but the Enraged went (he's going to be much more in control of himself except where his DNPC is concerned).I didn't notice that I had doubled up on my Summon limitations... thanks those of you who caught it. Ironically, it didn't actually change the cost one way or the other. The summoned gargoyles, by the way, are the ones directly from the Bestiary. Since they are slavishly loyal animated statues (and mischievious to malevolent if left to their own devices), he has no compunctions in destroying one himself if necessary (if they were actual living beings he would feel different, of course). As far as the campaign itself goes, it's looking to be a dark superheroic-type. I haven't really set any guidelines yet as far as Active Points and such, though I'm planning on keeping it fairly reasonable (I hope). Thanks everyone for your advice and comments; I hope version 2 is even better!
  3. Well, I've been lurking for a while, but seeing that I'm slowly building up to start a new campaign soon, I thought I'd post a character for critique. He is meant to be either a hero or a sympathetic villain, depending on events and who winds up playing him.
