  1. Re: CHAR: Thor. (Marvel Style)

-Thor is bullet proof to a point, but amongst the bricks of the Marvel universe he is not as resistant as Colossus or the Hulk and he has been shot(high calibre armor piercing rounds), cut, and stabbed but I can't recall his bones having ever been broken.

Well, there was that time Hela cursed him, making his bones brittle.

  2. Re: Ok, this is a Stargate question?

Actually' date=' the largest difference between the original and later that I can think of is that in the series pilot, the gate was two way; Apothos and his Jaffa walked back through it after their attack/recon of Earth without redialing.[/quote']

No, since the Gate shut down after Apophis and his troops came through.

They could have manually dialed the gate. We don't know precisely, since when the Earth reinforcments arrived, the Gate had been reactivated. However, in the previous scene, Apophis did say something to his Jaffa and indicated the Stargate with a nod of his head.

  3. Re: HALO Hero?

There's also a bizarre phenomena in that Hunter's don't seem to go down from plasma weapons; only gunfire.

Actually, Hunters will go down from plasma weapons, just not when you strike their weak spot. If you can place yourself where the blast from their Fuel Rod cannons can't hurt you, you can use either the plasma pistol or rifle and shoot one or two rounds at a time at the Hunter's head. Eventually, the Hunter will go down.

  4. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

Unfortunately' date=' I can't use the answering machine messages of, "Hi guys, this is Kathleen. I'm thinking of cutting off my character's leg." It wasn't a real game quote.[/quote']

    That reminds me.

In an Alien Legion campaign, our characters were in the middle of a siege holding out against two rival armies. We planned on how to best to lure a hive of giant scorpions into one of the enemy camps and had settled on using a leg from one of the dead when the medic (a sado-masochist with regeneration) exclaims:

"You want a leg? You can have mine!" (Amputates his own leg.)

  5. Re: Space:1999 Write-Ups

    Just a couple of points:

    Laser Canon

"Cannon" is what you use to shoot people. While "canon" is pronounced the same, I doubt the bad guys are going to tremble in fear of a code of laws. :)

31 Missile Launch System: Space Intercept Missile RKA 5d6, Indirect (Same origin, always fired away from attacker; +1/4), Explosion (+1/2) (131 Active Points); OIF Bulky (-1), Extra Time (Extra Phase (time to target), -3/4), 6 Charges (-3/4), Costs 10 END to Launch (-1/2), Real Weapon (-1/4)

What episode was that from? I have no recollection of the Eagles ever shooting missiles.

  6. Re: Stargate Hero

There was a flashback scene between Teal'c and Apophis where they discussed the fate of Teal'c's father. (It was the episode where Teal'c was undergoing the Rite of Mal'sharak after being brainwashed by Apophis.) Apophis was upset with Teal'c for daring to defend his father's actions and zapped him with the hand device. That may be what you were remembering.

  7. Re: Daleks??

I think there's some precedence for that. One set of Dalek "blueprints" I remember seeing back in the 70's or 80's claimed those spheroids around the skirt of the machine work together like a multifaceted eye.

They didn't work that way in one episode. The Doctor (Tom Baker, IIRC) threw his hat over the eyepiece and it blinded the Dalek. ("My vision is impaired. I cannot see!")

  8. Re: Stargate weapons

Let's hope the new staff weapons your GM has created don't kill too many PCs before he decides they are too powerful.

I'm not THAT vicious a GM.

As long as they can get back to the Stargate, Doc Frazier can always patch them up in time for the next adventure.

  9. Re: Stargate weapons

I like your idea of the mental entangle. I'll have to see if I can work something like that into my design. For your limitations though, you have Beam, and I'm not sure I would use that, since we've seen SG-1 affect a living target by shooting the metal wall/object they were hiding behind. Also, you have Charges and Reduced END. You don't need both. Personally, I'd go with 0 END rather than charges.

The mental entangle is something I'm tinkering with regarding the Goa'uld hand device.

The Zat gun is... well, Aroooo will find out after i shoot him with it. :)
