  1. squeak squeak (or whatever sound a weasel makes...) Perhaps...But, that's the orginal question: Is Recovery considered a Physical Action? If Mental Actions can cost END, and you can recover END via a Recovery, then it does stand to reason that one could recover END on a segment in which one could take a mental action - I can spend END but I can't get it back? This is what i'm trying to have clarified. I've actually asked Mr. Long in his forum what he thinks. It doesn't specifically say (that I could find in FREd) that Recovery is a Physical action. Everyone in my game is resonably new to the system. I do have a tendency to overthink these things from time to time. But I question: Why can I spend END, but not recover it in the same "type" of action?
  2. He says Physical Segs only... But I disagree. So, i'm trolling to see what Steve and the masses think and see if any of you/them see it my way...
  3. I asked this in the regular discussion forum, but would like Mr. Long's opinion on the matter... If a character has add'l speed with the lim "only for mental actions," can he take a Recovery in a phase where he'd only be able to act mentally? Or, for the sake of the game rules, is a Recovery considered a "physical" action?
  4. I'm a little slow... So forgive me if I'm not understanding you... According to the rules, you can take a recovery as an action in any phase in which you can act. So, I can mentally act in any of my 6 phases, but can only physically act in segs 4, 8 and 12. The question is: Is Recovery a Physical Action? Or can I take a recovery in ANY phase I can act, whether the extra speed was bought with a lim or not?
  5. I've got a character with a physical speed of 3. I have an add'l 3 speed with the 1/2 lim (only with mental actions), for a total of 6 speed. Should I only get REC on physical turns? Or on any turn I have an action, physical or mental?
  6. Ok, every once in a while I have trouble conforming my screwed up thoughts which I consider "common sense" to the cold logic of the game rules. Ultimately, all these decisions are left up to the GM. But i'm interested in a general discussion given the following scenario: Villan A has a necklace, which is considered an Inaccessible Focus as part of her powers. Now, FREd says that this type of focus cannot be hit with a Grab or taken away while A is in combat. This is where I get confused. I can understand how a necklace (or a ring, for that matter) could be considered inacessible, because in the difficulty in its being removed. However, I can also see, that if a Focus is Obvious, and is something like a necklace, you could concievably remove it during a combat situation. Whether by a very good HTH Grab Roll (esp. if you're using the Hit Location Table), or with something like TK with Fine Manip, it would seem reasonable to me that something that may be defined as an OIF COULD be removed during a combat situation, and not require a full out-of-combat turn. And how would you define an out-of-combat turn, anyway? I've not played many games, but in all of the ones I have played in, turns stopped counting once you were out of combat. Are the rules saying that the character may remove themselves from combat for one turn for the purpose of removing an OIF? Thoughts on any or all of the above is appreciated.
  7. So, here's what I was thinking. I'm playing a strong mentalist. At some time, the team i'm with might go up against another mentalist. Evil Mentalist (EM) plays Mental Illusions on a member of my team. (s)He hits, and the target A doesn't make his breakout roll. He's now under the influence of the Illusion. Illusions are Instant Powers, so as far as EM is concerned, he's done and can move on to other targets. I realize my teammate is under the influence of some illusion. As a Mentalist, I want to be able to reach into the mind of my teammate, and "turn off" this illusion (this example would work with Mind Control as well.) I could try "screaming" at him with telepathy, but that might not work. I could try to Illusion my own teammate with "reality", but if I don't roll high enough, my illusion wouldn't superceede (sp?) EM's initial illusion. So, the closest power I could think of in FREd is Dispel. The only way I can think to do this would be have Dispel for Mental Illusions, but then target my teammate, who is under the influence of the Illusion. I'm thinking this would stop the Illusion, and bring my teammate back to "normal." So, can Dispel work this way? While the intial power is Instant, the effect is a "constant," at least until the player Breaks out. I'm trying to figure out ways, as a mentalist, to help them... Thanks (and i hope this is in the right forum!)
