  1. Re: Teen Heroes & Static Shock

But the creator of Static Shock has much to do with his character and the Animated Continuity that Bruce Timm has created' date=' being a writer for many of the shows in it. Thus, he would have far more knowledge on the subject then you would.[/quote']

Correct, Dwayne McDuffie is one of the show runners and writers for Justice league (Unlimited) and well as one of the writers on Teen Titans. I frequent his MB on Delphi and maybe I can direct him here to straighten out the continuity questions that you guys have.

  2. Re: martial Arts Comedies

I'll second Shaolin Soccer, but also add one of my own personal favorites: ENCOUNTERS OF THE SPOOKY KIND.

Sammo Hung stars as Cheung, who's wife is cheating on him with his boss. Together they conspire to kill him by having him take a dare to stay in a haunted shrine. It sounds pretty serious but it's actually pretty funny and there are some awesome fights in this movie. Especially the end when Sammo gets possessed by a monkey spirit and fights another possessed proxy. Sammo is awesome in this movie.

  3. Re: I have it! I have it!

Next to CKC this is probably the best of the HERO Suppliments to come out. The first DC as pretty good, but this thing is AWESOME.

    Super-Skills, that's all I'm sayin'...

    ...Ok, just one more thing,

SON OF A BITCH MUST PAY.

  4. Re: Galactic Champions

    Anyone else got it?

Oh, I could come in here, post a review on what I've read so far, chat about the fine graphics, the inclusion of characters from the present in the far-flung future of champions 3k. I could do that.

But you'll have to settle for a simple Nanny-nanny-nya nya!

    Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaate.

  5. Re: Freedom City Goes HERO!

I've noticed several posters expressing their admiration for Freedom City here recently' date=' so I thought I should bump this for people who haven't seen it.[/quote']

Even thought my system of choice for supers gaming is HERO, I own both the SAS (Tri -Stat Deluxe Edition) and M&M core rules. I havent bought any of the SAS suppliments but Crooks! and Freedom City are pretty damn good. I downloaded the HERO stats for Freedom City and plan on using the characters in my ongoing campaign. If Green Ronin ever got it in thier heads to post HERO stats in thier books as well they would pretty much be ensuring that I pick up ANY M&M suppliment that they put out. Saving me the time of doing the conversions myself is a life saver. Even if they wanted to charge extra for a PDF with the stats after the release of the book would be cool with me.

  6. Re: Gundam SEED

Anyone know when this will be coming out on DVD? I would love to see it uncut in its original language. I'm just werid that way.

    From Anime on DVD:

    Gundam SEED Vol. #01 (also w/box) - 125 minutes - $29.98/$49.98 - 08/10/2004

  7. Re: Ninja Hero:Pai Mei

@ Plucky: Yes, Pai Mei is a recurring villain. Gordon Liu himself played the role of Pai Mei in at least two other movies besides Kill Bill, IIRC.

@ ShinHakkaider: Ehm. :) Pai Mei blocks the Bride's kick and holds her foot thanks to his body control alone in Kill Bill too. But IIRC this ability is explained fully in Executioners of Shaolin, where Pai Mei (also played by Gordon Liu) is said to have the ability to retract his testicles inside his body, thanks to his powerful kung fu. I must track down that movie and see it again.

Actually Pai Mei is played by Lo Lieh in Executioners of Shaolin. Gordon Liu IS in Executioners as well but he dies near the beginning of the movie.

Lo Lieh also plays a Pai Mei type character who is intent on avenging the death of the actual Pai Mei in Fists of the White Lotus.

If you have a multi region DVD player Executioners is available on region 3 DVD. It's the best print that I've ever seen of this movie and I've seen various prints of this for over 20 years. I picked it up fo $13.99 in Chinatown here in NYC. There are places online that you can order it from namely http://www.HKflix.com.

  8. Re: Ninja Hero:Pai Mei

He probably needs a good Disarm.

I'm completely at a loss on how to represent his "crotch hold" technique... :o

Ah, someone who's seen the character in something other than KILL BILL...

We're vaguely considering having the UNTIL cover being the boys-in-blue-and-white recapturing Ripper. Take that, VIPER! :)

D00d I just got the book yesterday and I'm liking it quite a bit. But DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN. Ripper is no joke! I was considering putting him up agaisnt some of my PC's but I think I'll wait until they get a little stronger...
