  3. Re: C25 deposit

just accrued to me that if thy print 200 copy's, sell/ship 199 copy's, keep #1of200 they will not have Any more if one gets eaten by the ups guy and they cant print more as it is a limited issue nor could they afford to replace lost copy's even if they had Any left

    just a thought

PS atlsscott i for one meant no offense:)

  4. Re: C25 deposit

with the Canadian dollor rising like it is we may be paying less then $100;)

And its $10.00($11 in Canada) whats that a couple of beers. my god its only money, a couple of years ago most of us would have given $100 DOJ just to get hero5th printed. now there are lots of people out there that can not spare 100+ on a book that they don't really need and thats fare but the non refundable deposit ain't something that needs debating. DOJ can little afford to tie up valuable capital in a bunch C25 that are never picked up and end up siting on a shelf for months, thy need it to print the next book!!!!, so lay off;)

  5. Re: How things have changed!

i have to say that the games i {WE} played in the early 80's were short on rules but were lots of fun, boot hill stands out as a simple but fun game and it had next to no rules [just a simple combat resolution system and some stats]. we just winged it most of the time and i think it was a good thing. i sometimes think that made us better gamers and less rules lawyers. H5R gives us all kinds of rules but i would never use them if it bogged down the game or made it less fun.

  6. Re: New to game whcih books do I buy??

H5R and Conquerors, Killers, and Crooks are the first two choices and champions is third . ckc will help you understand how the game works with lots of good power builds to revers engineer and after you get the hang of it will remain usefully for years to come. good luck and welcome to the best game yet!

  7. Re: Enhanced Senes -> "free" Tracking and other benefits

Police and MP dogs are trained (very effectively' date=' IMHO) to threaten. What sort of PRE skill is this? Is it Oratory? Persuasion? Interrogation?[/quote'] custom skill ?:intimidation, pre based?

but i think it's more likely just a high pre score , with situation mods for sharp pointy teeth:D

  8. Re: A couple of Canine questions.

and a whopping -15 social lim; animals don't possess nearly as many social rights as a human. Being shot and killed is concidered destruction of property for example.

well it probably changes based on local laws but i seem to remember there being vary nasty laws regarding killing a police dog in line with shooting a human cop.http://www.napwda.com/valor/k9vasko.phtml makes reference to charges for killing a police dog in parts of the US :(:(

  9. Re: help me!

sorry had to deal with life in the middle of a post:(

just looked up the tree on the expanded object table i would have thought a tree would have more body. if the fact that i bent the rules bothers you just go with a 3d6 major transform and skip the extra complexity i suggest, that gives you good chance at a 30' + tree.:) 4D6 with standard effect rule you get a 30'+ tree every time. after 20+ years:hush:with this game I have a tendency to do things my way sometimes;)

  10. Re: help me!

    adder long-lasting is on page 137 H5R

well if you want to make trees spring up in a forest there's not much advantage to it , its not really nothing to tree its more like grow tree real fast . if you want to grow trees in a variety of environments take a mp with three fixed slots

    15 mp 15pt reserve

    1U cosmetic transform 3D6{big tree} in a forest

    1U minor transform 1 1/2D6 {med tree} in a big patch of grass

    1U major transform 1D6 {small tree} in concrete

yes you are right that the rules say its a major transform but i would think this was reasonable balanced and not vary abusive in my example it just means you get a bigger tree in a good environment

  11. Re: help me!

"lets say that Demeter can grow trees out of nothing " ?

OK are they just ordinary trees that do ordinary tree things in a tree friendly environment in the midst of a bunch of "real" trees. then yes and its probably a minor transform. i might be convinced that it's a cosmetic transform in a forest.

if the tree is going to live in a underground parking garage than its probably a major transform .

you could make a good case for change environment perhaps with/ or without the +20 adder long-lasting .

use summon if the trees are "alive" doing things far beyond what normal trees can do.

  12. Re: help me!

I'm going to suggest you go back and reread pg 93 to 98 H5R this is the vary foundation of system and work vary differently than most games.once you get the basic premise of the system it will make the hole process easier for you. Susano suggest not trying the VPP rules yet and i have to agree but you should look at the rules on multipowers starting on pg 316 H5R.:)

PS welcome to the boards and keep the Questions coming:D

  13. Re: Please Critique My First Ever Build

I'm also looking to fill out the multipower with some kind of wing-buffet attack, and maybe a tail-bash doing normal damage.

Any advice on how to do a wing attack that affects movement would be appreciated. So far, a movement drain power is the only way I've seen to do this, but that doesn't really emulate what I'm after. Something that incorporates knockback and/or knockdown, without actually doing damage (or maybe a little Stun), would provide what I'm after, although I'm not sure if there's any easy way to simulate that (I'm not planning to use knockback rules in general, but would be happy to apply them in this instance, perhaps with an appropriate advantage).

wing-buffet attack could be a Area Effect Energy Blast

tail-bash doing normal damage could be a HTH Attack and Stretching

not to sure what you mean by "wing attack" but hear are a couple of ideas

teleportation Usable as a attack with extra mass and perhaps position shift and no relative velocity

Change Environment -1" movement perhaps with Sticky

HTH ATTACK with dose knockback / double Knockback

got to go more to come:D

  14. Re: The Developmental History of HERO

with the introduction of Justest Inc and Espionage {later danger international} a lot of champions games Incorporated the skills and talents from them. by 4th ed they were offishal as was the 250pt cap to prevent the rampant abuse of dis-adds. that was fond to be a little constraining that led to the 350pt character of 5th ed.

  15. Re: Please Critique My First Ever Build

    56 Attack MP

    2 Firebreath

4 Claw and tooth 3d6 HKA

just to clarify for are new Friend, Sean can correct me if i misinterpret.

    56 pts dragon attack multi power {with no lims on the MP}

    2U firebreath {with all Adds and lims that SableWyvern listed}

bass cost 25pts, active 56pts,real 22pts,real points divided by 10= 2.2 rounded down 2pts for the cost of the ultra or fixed slot cost

    4U claw and tooth 3d6HTHKA [5 1/2D6 with str]

45pts bass, active, real. 45pts divided by 10= 4.5 rounded down to 4pts for the cost of the ultra or fixed slot cost

that a nice MP but it has two thing for you to note.

1 you can't use both the fire attack and the HTHKA at the same time because thay are in a MP with only 56pts in the reserve, if it had 101pts in the reserve you could.

2 you can't use both the claw attack and the tooth attack at the same time because you have placed it as one attack with the SFX of being claw and or tooth.you could also add tail attack to the SFX at no cost increase but you could not do a Multiple-Power Attacks pg358 H5R without a second HTHKA Slot in the MP and increase the reserve {in the first example 2d6HTHKA at 30pts would require 3pts for the slot[ultra] and a extra 19pts for the reserve[56pts+19pts=75pts]

PS hope its for fantasy hero

    pss nice first build

  16. Re: Fair or Munchkin?

Excellent idea. One has only to be prepared to stand an exceeding number of low-points mentalist characters built without it.

well if thy don't think its that important than thay will have some thing to spend there first three experience points on[if thy live that long]:eg:

  17. Re: Fair or Munchkin?

i must say that the hole "get mental awareness for free" thing never really felt right :thumbdown and the selling of it off {with a lim} for more points than it would cost doesn't seem right:thumbdown :thumbdown . it might be some thing for Hv6 to address:hush: so it's most defiantly Munchkiny and gets the good game-master seal of unapproved:D
