  1. I've decided to create an organization of metahumans that have entirely selfish goals and are some what similar to Marvel's Hellfire Club. They will have titles and such based on the Fae Court. Unfortunately, my knowledge of the Fae Courts are somewhat limited. I know there is a Winter court and a Summer Court and each has it's own Queen and Knight but little else. Anyone with better knowledge/understanding of the subject care to point me to source with the information I need?

Also, has anyone done anything like this before?

  2. Re: Tike's Toybox of Doom!

Jacks that are caltrops with an explosive ball.

Multiple android servants disguised as dolls. (Points to a bad guy and says "Get'im Barbie!")

A jump rope or hair ribbons made of super high strength tensile material (good for lots of things: Swinging, Entangle, bonus to Climbing)

a toy Nerf gun (possibly stolen or traded for from her brother?) that's been converted to fire various forms (Explosive and/or Entangle come to mind) of silly puddy.

A make up kit that actually has chemicals in it that she can use on the spot to create a variety of things (Acid, Explosives, Truth Serum...)

Cakes she made in her Easy Bake oven that instill powers or Healing

  3. Re: Why do the Champions waste so much time being "good citizens?"

Also: the better public face a group of heroes has, the better off they are when the public turns against them or some group tries to smear them in the press or with advertisements. Sure, Viper can run anti-Champions ads, but the people will say "yeah, but they worked to rebuild my home after that meteor shower" and stuff like that.

And, if you're a hero your driving purpose is to help people and do good, which includes helping people when they are in need. The same thing that motivates you to be a hero rather than a thug that happens only to beat up on bad guys is what makes you want to do community service, help out those in need, and be a positive influence on your community.

    Amen brudda!

  4. Re: Build my Computer!

I don't think you could build it with the computer rules but I think you could make it as a power.....A combination of Eidetic Memory and Lightning calculator with focus limitations, memory only good for digital media limitation, etc.

  5. Re: A new hero for Christmas.....

    - bringing inanimate objects to life temporarily (at least in some versions the doorknob does this when Marley comes to visit Scrooge, Some type of summon? or transform?)

Personally, I think those manifestations would be mental illusions. :)

  6. Re: Powers for a Joker style villain

I like the idea of a shapeshifter alot although I think I'll limit him to flesh and blood things. I just had another thought....imagine if he could use his flesh shaping abilities on others?....ick. He could also use it to create powerful minions and make them loyal to him...

I like that alot! Wish I could rep you :) The force wall mime is a wicked idea too...I may use that for a henchman :D

I was toying with the idea of making him a speedster or mentalist...what do y'all think about those?

Edit:woohoo! I figured out how to rep! :D

  7. He was born an albino and due to various trama's his mind has snapped. He's died his hair purple, had his teeth filed to points and had clown make tatooed to his nose and around his eyes. His name is Skitso.

The only powers that I know I want for him are Eidetic Memory, some kind of VPP to represent his ability to instantly soak up knowledge and learn skills and lots of luck.

I'm sure I can do just fine on my own but I thought it would be fun to bounce ideas around with y'all. What are other powers do you think he should have? I toyed with teleportation abilities but that's a schtick that will probably get tomatoes thrown at me by my players (I've used it a little too much). He's definitely not a brick and I think if I give him gadgets it'll be too much of a rip-off of the joker. Other than that, what do y'all think?

  8. Re: Argus, the All-Seeing

I'll have to think about Movement (what first comes to my mind is too gross to seriously suggest). ;) However' date=' if Argus has eyes all around so he can see everywhere at once, that's certainly sufficient justification for Defense Maneuver and probably extra DCV CSL. Perhaps even some Combat Luck.[/quote']

All those eyes would (perhaps too obviously) justify 360 degree vision.

I like the teleportation thing too but I would justify it as he observed a witch that could scry with refelctive surfaces and then open a portal to those places.

  9. Re: Failure To Stop Drill

Hm. I thought shooting at anything but Center of Mass™ was A Bad Thing™

I still don't get what's failing and what's drilling.

By "Failure to stop" they mean your target has failed to stop after the first two shots to the torso so they train to automaticly shoot for the head after the 2nd shot.

  10. I started my game as a high powered game. 400 points with 200 in disadantages, with a 20d6 normal damage cap and 6 1/2 killing damage cap, no active point limit (I thought I had a 100 active point limit but was doing it wrong). I did this as a returning GM because I remembered always feeling like I had to leave something out because of points and I wanted my players to push the "wonderous" feeling of their character as much as they'd like.

I've since seen the error of my ways and am going to ask them to remake their characters with 200 points + 150 in disads and the 30 experience points they earned and I think they'll be okay with it.

I was hoping you could help give me a feel for what kind of averages I should look for in things like Dex, OCV/DCV, Speed, Active points, Average to high damage dice, Defenses, etc., etc. So what are the averages and the limits for your campaign? I'm assuming of course that at least most of you use the 200 + 150 disads.

  11. Re: Super-Hero for New York

I didn't get a chance to edit his background so there's numerous typos and grammatical errors in it, sorry guys. I also forgot to add his qoute:

"Somewhere, right now, some one is suffering at the hands of someone else. Someone who is begging and pleading for aid and will not receive it unless I can find them and render it. I will not turn away, I will not ignore their call and I will not stop until I am dead."

  12. Re: I need a function!

The Mace of Duncan was named for Duncan McCloud of the clan McCloud...an Immortal. Just like the weapons of the Immortals, the Mace can be tucked aways in a pocket dimension named Aniss and withdrawn whenever the user needs it.

I suck at art and my one attempt at making it on the DC hero machine had me twitching inside 5 minutes. If anyone wants to take a crack at it though, please feel free.

  14. Re: Super-Hero for New York

    Here's his background:

BACKGROUND Eric McCardy Sr. was a wealthy scientist, my father and a monster. Not only did he beat my mother and I but he liked to punish me by throwing me into a trunk and leaving me there for hours....sometimes days. The only love I ever felt as a child was for my mother and when I was nine, he took even that from me...beating her to death.

No, I can't say I ever loved him at all. From my earliest memories I only felt fear of him and then later hate. When he killed my mother he threatened to kill me as well if I said anything at all to the cops. My fear was so great that I kept silent and the burden of that secret still weighs heavily upon my soul. Did he go to jail for it? Was he even punished at all for it? Of course not. He made it look like she had fallen down a flight of stairs and he used both his wealth and his contacts in the government to ensure that it never even went to trial. Did any of those people ever care even a little about the hell he put her through? Or about the child that was me that he tortured almost daily?

I still wake up sometimes, dreaming that I'm in that hellish box, the dark closing in on me, the air stale and rich with the smell of my own urine, excrement and blood threatening to suffocate me. My screams and tears going un-answered.. No one came to save me. Not God, not the police and not some super hero. It seemed I was the only one who heard my screams and pleas for mercy.

By the time I was fourteen I was so sick of it that I wanted to die. So I did the one thing that I was certain was suicide. I went to my father's lab and confronted him. I told him I was going to the police and confessing everything I knew about my mom's death and that he would rot in jail for the rest of his life. He laughed at me and then struck me. I was sure my head would come off my neck from the blow but I didn't care.

It didn't do that obviously but it did nock me to my knees, despite my resolve not to give him anything this time....not my fear, not my pain, not even my hate or rage. I stood up and looked him straight in the eye, willing that he would see none of my weakness...nothing of what I felt. I told him again that I was going to the police and that there was nothing he could do to stop me. Again he struck me and once more he threatened to kill me but this time I was actually able to smile at him, still staring him in the eye and I told him that killing me would be the nicest thing he would have ever done for me. Then the real beating began.

Mercifully, I lost consciousness at some point and when I woke up, in addition to having lost two teeth and having a number of ribs and my right arm being broken, I was strapped down to a table and an I.V. was in my arm. At first I had hoped that I was waking up in the hospital but my father, noticing I had awakened, informed me that if he was going to kill me, my death might as well serve a purpose. He had been contracted by the government to do research on a way to create super soldiers and felt that he was close to a break through but couldn't get clearance to do tests on human subjects yet. I, his only child, he informed me, would be his first test subject. He was absolutely sure it would kill me. As he injected the I.V. with whatever chemicals he needed for his test, I again fell into unconsciousness.

When I awoke again, I was on a gurney and being wheeled through a hallway. My body ached like it had been set on fire. The agony far greater than my injuries had been before. As I was being wheeled along I became aware that my father was talking to me. In my pain fogged brain I hardly cared what he was saying but later, from memory, I would piece together that he was telling me that the chemicals he had introduced to my system needed an energy catalyst to work the change he was attempting to induce.

In the state I was in I did not understand a word he said and didn't care until I saw the box, coffin sized and made of lead, it's interior dark and foreboding. I screamed and struggled for naught, the bonds he had placed me in holding me securely as I was moved inside it and the door closed behind me. Vaguely, I remember hearing the humming of machines in my gasps for breath between screams. My psyche could finally deal with no more and I do not remember much after this point only recalling bits and pieces in flashbacks. My screams becoming a guttural roar. The lead box being torn apart by my own hands. The crunching of bone beneath my fist.

My very next memory is waking up in the hospital. Passers by had found me in an alley blocks away, unconscious with my clothes torn and barely together. My broken bones were gone as well as my bruises and various cuts. Only my two lost teeth, both molars, were there to remind me that this had all been real. The doctors informed me that I had been in a coma, in their care for two weeks. When I asked them about injuries when they found me they said I had none that they could find when I was admitted.

The doctors also informed me that what was left of my father had been found in what was left of his laboratory. His body, like his entire lab, had been crushed beyond recognition. The entire facility had been leveled. This is when I met Sonny. Sonny was a police officer assigned to investigate the incident at the laboratory. He was trying to determine whether my appearance/disappearance was related to what happened.

I was fourteen, had no family left, was emotionally and physically drained and likely in shock as well. So I told him everything. Every last detail, from my mother to the beatings and the chest he locked me in to that night at the laboratory...and I got lucky. Officer Sonny Hernandez was a policeman who also happened to be a good person as well. He thanked me for my honesty and showed me a video cassette which he said was from the lab. He said it showed me going into the lab and never leaving so he knew I had been there.

He also said that whatever had destroyed the lab....if it was ever caught and not outright killed...would be poked and prodded and studied for the rest of it's life. He said I had best learn to control it and that if I didn't, certain evidence that he was going to suppress would suddenly come to light linking me to it. The whole thing was written off as a lab accident and I was never linked to it.

My father's money was put in a trust fund and his physical assets were put in storage until I turned eighteen and my custody was given to the State of New York until then as well. I got lucky there as well. The foster family whose care I was given into, the Cassidy's, was a good one. They treated me well and just like another part of the family from day one. My foster brother, William Cassidy or Billy as we knew him, was a year older than me and he became my best friend. They weren't wealthy and indeed often had a hard time getting by but the whole situation was heaven compared to what I had come from.

As to the thing I became that night...I didn't see it again for almost a year and a half. Billy and I were playing football and he tackled me. The next thing I knew Billy was laying on the ground and scared witless a few feet away and I was towering over him. Shocked, I almost immediately resumed my normal form. That was when I told Billy everything about it and me. I asked him to swear to keep my secret and he always has. Over the next couple of years, I figured out how to switch back and forth into that form at will and I always had complete control. My change was only physical now, unlike that night when my mind apparently became something else as well.

In that form, I was muscle bound and huge..almost eight feet tall when I was 15 and growing at an even greater rate than I was in my normal form. I was also far stronger and tougher than any human had a right to be. I would only very, very rarely use it though, as it was a reminder of darker times.

Sonny would come to visit me monthly and sometimes on holidays as well. We bonded and he became like an uncle to me. He and Billy would be the only ones I could completely confide in.

When I turned eighteen I went off to the same college Billy did and I earned a degree in criminology, minoring in law, with the intention of pursuing a career as a police officer. I also learned martial arts, acrobatics, gymnastics, rock climbing and became an accomplished athlete. Billy, a more analytical type of person, earned a degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Mechanical Engineering.

I used some of the money that was left to me by my father to fund both my and Billy's education. It wasn't until I left college that I resolved the remainder of my father's physical assets most of which I sold, with the exception of some of my mother's things and that damnable chest....which I obliterated.

Then came the day when Sonny and his family were attacked. His wife was brutalized, his son killed and he himself almost mortally wounded and left for dead by a man whom he had arrested for similar crimes to his own family. A man that was as much or more than a monster as my father had been. Sonny never recovered completely recovered from it and retired from the force afterwards. While he convalesced, he talked to me about the other form I could take. I told him how I didn't like utilizing it because of what it reminded me of and for fear that it might turn me into a greater monster than my father was....but he told me that I had been given a gift and even though it had come from a dark part of my life, it was still a gift that I could use for whatever I saw fit. Including stopping men like my father and his attacker.

Then it dawned on me that while my cries and begging for rescue had gone un-answered...It didn't have to be that way for everyone. That I could be the one to answer their call and that I had the power to save some of them...to end some of that suffering. Knowing that, I couldn't turn my back on them and in that moment, at least in my mind's eye, Excelsior was born!

POWERS/TACTICS He is kind of a blend of Captain America, Batman and Luke Cage. He further augments his powers and skills with the gadgets that Billy (who works for him full time) creates.

PERSONALITY/MOTIVATION Eric has a strong moral code instilled in him by his foster familty which is further fueled by the tragedy that was his early life. Even if he didn't have the powers he has, he would be pursuing a career that would allow him to help people.

    APPEARANCE

    Hair Color: Brown

    Eye Color: Blue

    Height: 1.86 m

    Weight: 100.00 kg

    Description:

He was a very physical person even before his transformation, enjoying such sports as rock climbing, acrobatics and gymnastics, which have given him a very lean muscular form. He has brown hair which is kept short and blue eyes. He has a lot of pride in his home state and has incorporated much of his states symbology into his heroic persona. His costume is navy blue with gold (New York's state colors) boots and gloves. His mask is the kind that leaves the mouth open (like batman's w/out the ears or captain america's) and has gold tinted goggles over his eyes. He wears a tactical vest with lots of pockets for the gadgets his friend has made him and carries a circular shield with the statue of liberty embossed upon it. The shield has the same greenish patina as the statue and a torch, identical to the statue of liberty's and also the same patina green, is his symbol (it is on his chest). His superhero name is Exelsior which is both the state motto and is also a homage to Stan Lee. :)
