  1. Hello I am considering buying the Kamarathin fantasy setting. However, I have a few issues and was wondering if I could please get some help. First, I read a review of this setting which said that the only major weakness was that the Package Deals were prohibitively expensive. Has anyone written up a revised version of the Package Deals? If not, how difficult would it be to do this (I am a Hero newb)? Also, one of my players wants her character to be an herbalist. So the Herbalism in the Kingdom of Tursh book is a must-have. However, I noticed it is in 6th ed, and I am using 5th. How would I go about translating it to 5th? How difficult would it be? Thanks Frater EIE
  2. Hello I am confused about the rules for Maximum effect (page 73 of the 5th ed). It says, "A character may achieve this maximum with one or more roles; later roles do not have to exceed the total of prior roles to provide additional benefit." I don't understand how this works, and the examples didn't quite clear it up for me. Does it mean that you can just keep rolling until you get your maximum? Each time you make another role, does this count as a second use of the power, meaning you have to pay the endurance after each role? Does it also mean it takes additional time? Thanks
  3. Re: Total Defense? Yeah, I guess it would've been smart of me to take a look at the Damage Resistance Power. It just gets so overwhelming... As a newbie GM, I must say I can't wait until my brain stops pouring out of my ears like sticky candy. And to think I once considered getting a career in quantum physics:lol:
  4. Re: odd cost for SPD Aaaahh, thank you... about the SPD calculation. Why didn't I see that before! And another typo nailed down!
  5. I don't seem to understand a rather basic aspect of Hero rules. Looking at the Bestiary, I find myself confused over Total Defense and Resistant Defense stats. For example: the Giant Wolf (or Wolf, Giant) has 25 Str. This gives it a base PD of 5. It's been boosted to 10, so an extra 5 of PD costs 5 CP. No problem. Its Resistant Defense, however, bestowed upon it through through the power, Tough Skin, is 2 PD, 2 ED (which costs 2 CP, so its definitely being calculated separately from the boosted PD). So, in the main stats section of its character sheet, it's given a 2rPD and 2 rED. No problem. However, its total PD is 10, not 12. Same goes with the normal ED, rED and Total Ed. The rD doesn't seem to be added on to the Total Defense. And it's like this on all the character sheets I have studied. So it's not a typo.
  6. Re: odd cost for SPD Yeah, but 23/10 = 2.3 + 1 = 3.3, rounded down is 3. 3 more SPD would equal 30 CP spent on SPD. Another thing: It gives Total PD as 23. rPD is 20. PD is 6. Adding rPD and Normal PD = 26 Total PD. Not 23. It looks like they've added the 3 CP cost (for boosting PD above its base) to the Total PD. Is this a typo? If not, I'm really confused!
  7. On the sample character sheet in Sidekick, there's a strange cost for SPD. Firebrand's base SPD is 3, and it's obviously been boosted to 6. With CP cost for SPD 10x, that would make the cost 30 CP, but for some weird reason, it's 27! Anybody know why? Am I missing something? Cheers
  8. I wanted to post this in the 6E discussion forum, but I read its for rules discussion only. So I figured I'd put my annoying complaints and hopes here. I really hope Steve gets some better artwork together for 6E. This may be the best RPG system ever, but it certainly comes across with more than a little cheese. It may give me a bad rep for saying it, and I have no idea if this has been discussed before, but everyone I know who has looked at the books, all my friends, agree: the artwork is cheesy. To make a comparison, go take a look at one of the AD&D's 2nd Edition copy of The Complete Psionics Handbook. The first time I picked up and took a look at it, I was utterly stunned at the artwork. Now, flip through Hero's Ultimate Mentalist. Need I say any more?
  9. In the combat example in Sidekick, in the first post-segment 12 Recovery time, it states that Defender has used 6 END, but I can only account for 4 END (from his Boot-Jets). Unless he used another 2 END in breaking through the skylight? I still don't quite understand END cost, how and when to calculate it... Thanks
  10. Hey Steve and all I have so many questions, I just don't where to begin.... Well, for starters, the combat example in sidekick between Pulsar and Defender. I'm just trying to figure out END cost and be able to calculate cost quickly and with ease. Although since I'm a beginner GM, would you recommend doing without END for now? So, why does Defender pay 6 END in the first segment - segment 12? I know that his boot-jets cost 4, and his electro-bolos thingy doesn't cost any because of the charges. Pulsar's Power Blast I costs 6 END, so that makes sense. The only thing I can figure is that it cost Defender 2 END using his Strength to break through the skylight. Am I right? Thanks Frater EIE
