Mr. R
Over on RPGnet there is a thread about the kickstarter. I am a sucker for new super settings for stea.....err borrowing. On the whole I liked it. Interesting backstory, a rational for why there are all those powers/gadgets/magic items. I didn't like that the different factions have different pricing for abilities or items. And I really didn't like the multiple experience tracks (one for regular exp. one for your fame stat and each has an effect on your progression) But the one spot I found most interesting was a stat called KA. Every PC will have KA. It allows them the reason they can do the amazing things they do. And as I was reading it I realized this was the Modified Luck rules that I found in Gestalt. Use it to raise a skill roll, a to hit roll, a damage roll ( basically spend points to get an extra die / amount spent) or to reduce damage taken ( HMMM idea, spend luck to get one die Damage Reduction/ amount spent) The only major turn off for me was another system saying YOU can change the world (ala Authority). That this ISN'T like those Other Super Hero Games (OH please, Aberrant did the rant much better) But on the whole I think it would work as long as you buy into the rational! PS YES there is a Metaplot, but thankfully they say you can ignore it if you want to and take things your way!
