What is a 0-BODY Entangle?

bcwhite

Question

6e1 pg 216:

Quote

When he reduces the Entangle’s BODY to 0, he is free

Since the BODY of an Entangle is the BODY of the rolled dice, what does it mean if all 1s are rolled and that value is zero from the start?  I can think of several possibilities:

  1. The Entangle fails.
  2. The Entangle succeeds but any breakout attempt is immediately successful.  This is much the same as #1 since 6e2pg124 says, "If a character who’s trying to break out of an Entangle (which doesn’t require an Attack Roll) does twice the remaining BODY of the Entangle or more, he’s free and has a Full Phase in which to act," and 2x0 is still zero so he would have a full action.
  3. The character has only to reach (but not exceed) the PD/ED defense at which point, since the Entangle's BODY is already zero, he's free.
  4. Entangles have a minimum of 1 BODY regardless of the roll.

From 6E1 page 216:

Quote

If an Entangle has been damaged and another Entangle is then used on the Entangled character, the Entangle has the highest PD and ED and BODY of the two Entangles involved. However, at a minimum, applying another Entangle adds +1 BODY, thus “healing” the damaged Entangle.

While that's not a direct answer to your question, it does give a basis for option 4:  Entangles have a minimum of 1 BODY regardless of the roll.
