Images question

Question

Using the FHG, the Spell of Double Deception (p 178) is an image vs a detect. Trying to use it in HD doesn't work, since you need to select a sense group as its base (which gives you the targeting/non-targeting you need for images. So, two questions come to mind:

1) If an image is built for a detect that has the "no or unusual sense group", is that considdered a non-targeting version?

2) can you build an image to a mental sense, such as mind scan or mental awareness? Would it use the same rule (varydepending on targeting or not?

After typing it, I think I know the answers, but would like an official answer anyway.

Thanks

When a character creates an Image against a single sense, particularly one defined as belonging to no Sense Group, he should ask the GM whether that Sense is considered Targeting or Nontargeting, and determine the cost accordingly. In many cases this will involve applying the Limited Effect Limitation from 5E 85, since such a power will only affect a single Sense instead of a whole Sense Group.

Yes, characters can build Images to the Mental Sense Group, or to individual Senses belonging to that group. As explained on 5E 85, the Mental Sense Group is typically going to be considered a Nontargeting group, but that’s up to the GM.
