JLXC
Well I'm running a very short adventure and so I let them give me some archetypes and I made them for the party. (Only one player has ever played Hero). So here's something I whipped up, tell me what you think or point out any obvious flaws. Thanks! Real Cost: 5 //Barbarian Rage// +7 Str (No Figured Chr -1/2, Only when Enraged -1/2, 3 Continuing Charges of up to 1 minute in length -1/2) PLUS +5 PD (Only when Enraged -1/2, 3 Continuing charges of up to 1 minute each -1/2) The continuing charges Stop as soon as Combat is over or last to 1 minute max. Also gave him Deadly Blow all HTH (only when enraged -1/2) The character has Enraged (Only in Combat) 11-, 11- The reason for the +7 Str is simple. The character has 23 Str and I wanted to make it easier on a 1st time player to go to an Even 30 Str when Raging out.

badger3k
Re: New GM making a Barbarian Rage Originally posted by JLXC Well I'm running a very short adventure and so I let them give me some archetypes and I made them for the party. Not too bad that I can see. I'd either get rid of the Enraged and make it a side effect, since the Rage ability is done at will, and attaching it to the Enraged disad makes it a little more randon IMO - the character may want to do it, but he rolls high and isn't enraged, for example. The other note is the Charges Stop limitation - I'd make it one, probably -1/4. Mine isn't like that since I want the Enraged to be a little more of a problem (although it's not as bad as a Berserk would be). My own interpretation of it (to show yet another way): Rage: all abilities 1 Continuing Charge lasting 1 Turn (-1 1/4), Side Effects, Side Effect occurs automatically whenever Power is used (Character becomes Enraged, requires Ego roll to come out of it before time limit expires; -1/2), Character has -2 DCV while in Rage (-1/4) 1) Berserk Strength: +10 STR (10 Active Points) 2)+5 CON (10 Active Points) 3)+5 BODY (10 Active Points) 4)+2 with HTH Combat (10 Active Points) 5)+10 STUN (10 Active Points) I have to redo the ability in HD, so the point costs wouldn't be right. The duration increases as the "level" goes up (ie - the character puts points in the ability). Your deadly blow ability suffices for the damage done from the Str increase. I'd also add the OCV bonus (since +4 Str = +2 in D&D). The Con increase gives more HP, which is the Body/Stun bonuses in my ability. Mighty Rage is just the above powers doubled, and tireless rage I made as a naked modifier for Up to 50 Str, only while raging (-1/2). edited since I saw a limitation I missed.
