Two-Weapon Question

My wife is working on a character that uses a two-weapon style of sword and gun ... looking at the Two-Weapon skill, you pick either ranged or melee ... if you bought both, would it be considered that she could use the weapons in tandem with each other, even though one is melee and one is ranged?

Not under the rules, no, because with HTH TWF a character uses Sweep, and with Ranged TWF he uses Rapid Fire. What the GM's willing to allow despite that is up to him.
