TK, Indirect, and Missile Deflect

etherio

Question

How does an attack having the advantage 'Indirect' affect a target's ability to Missile Deflect it (aside from consideration for common sense and dramatic effect)?

In any case, can TK (assuming it has no special Limitations like 'physical manifestations) be Missile Deflected?

Re: TK, Indirect, and Missile Deflect

Good questions -- I wish they'd come up a couple weeks ago so I could've put the answers in 5ER. But at least they'll provide some good material for the new Rules FAQ. ;)

1. Nothing about being Indirect innately makes an attack non-Deflectable. As you say, it’s a question of common sense and dramatic effect — if a character’s set up and ready for an attack from the front, the GM might not allow him to Deflect an attack that strikes him from behind due to Indirect. And of course, as the rules note, a character must be able to perceive an attack to Deflect it; in some cases, he may not be able to perceive an Indirect attack.

2. Yes — Telekinesisis a Ranged attack, and thus susceptible to Missile Deflection. It’s usually going to require the 20-point form of Missile Deflection, but ultimately that depends on the special effect of the Telekinesis.
