Barwickian
Comments invited on the following write-up of Tintin. Note: this is intended to represent Tintin in the 1930s stories, before he's met Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus.I've deliberately broken the rules in one area: dependent NPCs. Snowy's definitely a 25pt disad, and the general level of grief Thompson and Thomson give Tintin during the 1930s stories seems about right at 15pts.I had contemplated developing a martial art (Fisticuffs) for Tintin, but decided to go for three 5pt CSLs instead.TintinPlayer: Val** Char*** Cost 9** STR -1 16** DEX 18 11** CON 2 14** BODY 8 14** INT 4 18** EGO 16 14** PRE 4 10** COM 0 * 2** PD 0 2** ED 0 3** SPD 4 6** REC 4 32** END 5 32** STUN 7 *6"**RUN02"**SWIM04 1/2"**LEAP3Characteristics Cost: 74Cost** Power END 20** Luck 4d6* 0 Powers Cost: 20Cost** Skill 9** Deduction 15-* 3** Disguise 12-* 7** Climbing 14-* 15** +3 with HTH Combat* 5** Criminology 13-* 3** Contortionist 12-* 3** Conversation 12-* 3** Sleight Of Hand 12-* 3** Riding 12-* 10** TF: Equines, Large Motorized Boats, Parachuting, Basic, Rafts, Small Motorized Boats, Small Motorized Ground Vehicles, Small Planes, Small Rowed Boats, Small Wind-Powered Boats, Submarines, Two-Wheeled Motorized Ground Vehicles* 5** WF: Common Melee Weapons, Assault Rifles/LMGs, Handguns, Off Hand, Rifles* Skills Cost: 66Cost** Perk 1** Fringe Benefit: Press Pass* 4** Money: Well Off (5 Active Points); Limited Power Power loses about a fourth of its effectiveness (Expense account; -1/4)* 3** Reputation (A large group) 14-, +1/+1d6* Perks Cost: 8Cost** Talent 3** Bump Of Direction* 6** Combat Luck (3 PD/3 ED)* Talents Cost: 9Val** Disadvantages 0** Normal Characteristic Maxima* 5** Unluck: 1d6* 25** Dependent NPC: Snowy 14- (Incompetent)* 5** Distinctive Features: Strawberry-blond quiff, plus-fours and raincoat (Easily Concealed; Noticed and Recognizable; Detectable By Commonly-Used Senses)* 10** Reputation: World-famous crook-catcher, 14- (Known Only To A Small Group)* 15** Psychological Limitation: Sense of justice (Uncommon, Total)* 10** Psychological Limitation: Curiosity (Common, Moderate)* 15** Dependent NPC: Thomson and Thompson 11- (Incompetent; Useful Noncombat Position or Skills)* Disadvantage Points: 85Base Points: 75Experience Required: 17Total Experience Available: 0Experience Unspent: 0Total Character Cost: 177 Height: 1.79 m Hair: Strawberry blond Weight: 64.00 kg Eyes: Black dots Appearance: Skinny, clean-cut lad with strawberry-blond quiff, round face and a button nose.Personality: As a reporter, Tintin has a good nose for a story (represented by his curiosity). But his well-developed sense of justice means he is never content simply to observe and report when he uncovers wrongdoing: he must act to right wrongs. He is unshakeable in his devotion to his friends, and unrelenting in his pursuit of criminals. Even in hopeless situations, his faith in himself keeps him going. Quote:Come on, Snowy! Background: Tintin is the world-famous boy reporter for Le Petit Vingtieme, the children's supplement of the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtieme Siecle (20th Century).Powers/Tactics: Tintin's a skilled fist-fighter, and familiar with most firearms. He never fights unless it's absolutely necessary, though, prefering to rely on tricks to avoid unecessary confrontations.Campaign Use:
ThothAmon
Re: Tintin the HERO: comments invited I'd have made Snowy a purchased Follower given the sheer number of times he chews Tintin out of ropes, trips villains, barks a warning etc etc. IMO there's no way he qualifies as an incompetent DNPC worth 25 points. I'll agree with the Thompson Twins as DNPCs. A pair of twats in bowler hats = DNPC. I'd also have gone with Dirty Infighting (and Clubs as Martial Weapon) with a couple of 3 point levels instead of HTH levels. You could legitimately throw in at least one Generic Hunted (crook of the week, idiot Nazis etc). Finally, the kid seems to be missing Stealth and Concealment
jackalope
Re: Tintin the HERO: comments invited He needs writing skills of some sort, such as PS: Journalist, or KS: Creative Writing, since he is a reporter, and he should probably have some sort of Photograhpy skill, cause he carries a camera in many of the books and certainly knows how to use it. Luck, and lot's of it, would also be very apporpriate.
