Re: The end of the world as we know it...

The players are developing a sort of declaration re rights and will probably be used for BOOM (above). It's still under discussion and I'll come back here and edit the final version, but I thought it might be ineresting for anyone with a serious mutant campaign.

PS/EDIT - this is basically the UN Declaration of Human Rights, I knew it was something already, sort of, but not the extent, and one of the players, Lamrok, pointed it out, I should be clear on this -

PREAMBLE

Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all sentient inhabitants and residents of the planet Earth is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,

Whereas disregard and contempt for individual rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which all sentient beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people,

Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that sentient rights should be protected by the rule of law,

Whereas it is essential to promote the development of friendly relations between men, bonded of kin, classification or nation,

Whereas the peoples of these unions have in the Charter reaffirmed their faith in fundamental sentient rights, in the dignity and worth of the single person and in the equal rights of men and women and have determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,

Whereas Members have pledged themselves to achieve, in co-operation with these Unions, the promotion of universal respect for and observance of individual rights and fundamental freedoms,

Whereas a common understanding of these rights and freedoms is of the greatest importance for the full realization of this pledge,

Now, Therefore THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY proclaims THIS UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF SENTIENT RIGHTS as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of this Union themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction.

This was drafted, by the way, by the player who has the handle Chromatic on the boards.

Now, also, he submitted a "simple" version (in fact the above is the distillation of his 3,000+ page manifesto, he's one of the 2 >100 INT characters), as to him all people are pretty low-intelligence. The entertainer shape-shifter, Sammy, has decided to turn it into a song, using "It's a Small World After All" as the basis (long story, basically the mentalist once triggered a worldwide echoing of this song in people's minds, not long ago)...

We are free,

you and he and she,

human and mutie.

Rights are good,

all need shelter, food,

all want happy mood.

Earth is home

none want dome,

or life as drone.

Justice is first,

peace through thirst,

mankind is diverse.

Not might for might,

but might for right,

the weak too can fight.

Rights not earned,

all have learned,

we get what was yearned.

Reason be the guide,

not be crushed by tide

false laws we not abide.

Power not means,

means not control,

control not power.

Probably in a little over a week I'll publish a torrent of stuff on the website, there's been intense PBEMing going on. I selected the above as it was one of the more salient potential pieces for reuse.

In Spectrum's defense, Nexus' summoned creatures were singing the darn tune! It's just too bad I got plugged into the world later on.

Its all about fear. Villains are a "Cowardly and Superstitious Lot" and you have to exploit that when you get a chance. I think we would all agree that huge hoardes of otherworldly beings singing "Its a Small World" exploits those fears...

Yea, but the fear is getting out to everyone. Though noticing how many people have that set as their ring tone now is rather alarming.
