Dispel Compound Power

Legendsmiths

Question

When dispelling a compound power is the effect applied separately to each power in the compound or does it treat the compound as a single power?

In the FAQ there is an example referring to adjustment powers vs. a "compound" power that is defined by a link. I realize with linked powers the dispel would be applied separately (provided it could affect each power in the first place), but the case with compound powers isn't as clear to me.

Re: Dispel Compound Power

A Linked power, as noted, would require the Dispel to be applied separately — though of course Dispelling the greater power makes the lesser power useless anyway, so it’s sort of a moot point. In the case of other compound powers (such as an EB composed of various amounts of dice, each with separate Limitations), typically you add the parts together to get an overall Active Point total, just as you would if you were trying to see if the power would fit into a Framework slot, and that’s what the Dispel has to meet or beat. The GM’s free to work things differently if he thinks that’d be appropriate.
